High-mod fibers and aging, UV-degradation etc.

My main point at the moment is the use of Technora and Vectran for life support rather then friction hitches, may it be for friction savers, redirect-(or any kind of-)slings, stem anchors, whatever. How do they hold on when exposed to our work-environment? Personally I am quite confident to use...

High-mod fibers and aging, UV-degradation etc.

Aloha! I found information (or at least mentioning) on the Buzz about flex-fatigue here and there, but not really a thread to sum up info about physical properties of modern high-modulus fibers as Dyneema, Technora, Vectran, PBO etc., and especially information about aging and UV degradation...

I like the design and size of them, but have serious quality issues with mine. I hope they get that right!

Petzl gold screw ring on sequoia

The ring itself isnt certified (and thats a big issue in EU somehow ;), only as part of the sequoia, so they dare not to sell it for itself. I think its not even allowed if they would sell it as PPE, but hey, they just could call it an accessory part, hehe. Serious, I think they know that some...

I can recommend that, it is definitely an interesting tool! ;)

    zigzag

Nice M-Rig indeed! I´ve heard that the ZZ runs better on thinner ropes. I could imagine that with time (and abrasion) fatter rope will run smoother. ;) Though the pulley seems pretty stuffed with your 1/2" Kernmaster (is that right?), so I am not to confident that it'll wotk out good with...

    X-rigging rings

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] diagram 2, two rings. Same bend radius: [/ QUOTE ] Physics says two rings are not the same as one and there are differences other than temperature. The bend takes place over a longer section of rope with two rings Vs. one. The rope only seeing 90° of bend at each ring...

    Foot Lockin versus Rope Walkin

[ QUOTE ] ... Footlocking in the comp is like the 100 meter dash of the Olympics, it is the pride event of the contest. How fast can you frog walk up that rope? [/ QUOTE ] I do not agree in the importance of the FL Event, it seems outdated to me. Thats not to say footlocking isnt important...

    footloop length

I'd say it really depends on the system you are using! If there is no chest ascender (or some devive high up in front of you) I'd go as low as it gets with the hand ascender. No reason to work over head if you dont have to, we do it enough in other situations... And dont forget to take small...

    Splicing onto Round Thimbles

Yes Nick, I make this difference too, it makes sense for me! Norm, I tend to go for a 90° angle, as it is also my rule of thumb for Deviation Force Angles (if does make any sense in English...). But as I said it depends on the Shape of the (groove of the) thimble as well. When it is deeper it...

Anyone used All gear TVP cord?

[ QUOTE ] ... It's the 5/16's" diameter, which is a 16 strand. I removed 9 strands, instead of 8, as I found it grabbed just a bit better on my Rocket Line and Tachyon with the 7 strand bury. Yes, no brummels, just a straight bury. ... [/ QUOTE ] Why are you not going for locking brummels? I...

[ QUOTE ] Here is a video of it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OZqE2DVj_vs [/ QUOTE ] Can someone recall how the video was named? The link to the video where the rope is supposed to come out of the Uni isnt working anymore...

    unicender advice

I searched the Archive but didnt find an Answer to some of my Questions, so I put them up here: - did someone find out the reason for the L- instead of U-shaped lower Leg? and even more interesting for me: - why is the lower Attachement-Point so long? The only thing I came up with is because...
