Odd ball oak, prob a mutation

Probably need to cut scions and keep them refrigerated until the sap flow. Then graft onto an appropriate rootstock.

    Broken man, extreme burnout

I have a Dolmar 117 that we named Serenity. She can wake up a neighborhood faster than you can down a cup of coffee.

    Broken man, extreme burnout

Hey Levi, I’m sorry you’re going through some tough times. I’ve been on the verge of burnout for a few years. Haven’t listened to my voicemail in close to five years now. Well, at least not from my contact list. I’ve let a bunch of opportunities pass me by, but I think there’s light at the end...

I cut myself..... with a stick. (warning: blood)

It’s only a flesh wound… glad you’re on the mend. It’s amazing how easily we humans can be punctured.

    Home birthing hippies

All six of ours were water births. Five were born in our living room with a blow up birthing pool, but our first was born in a birthing center jacuzzi. My wife wouldn’t have it any other way. Have you seen what Jim Gaffigan has to say about it?

Watch out for underground bee and hornet nests

Wow, glad you made it. I would suggest carrying a mini stun gun/taser. When I lived in the jungle of Peru all the pilots carried them for snake bites and other poisonous insect stings. If you zap the sting/bite quick enough, it can neutralize the poison. One of my friend’s dad died after being...

    Arts and Crafts

Thanks guys, I love the color variations in Black Jack; it’s more interesting than your average Red Oak. I don’t usually find a straight section of trunk long enough to mill in this species of tree.

    Arts and Crafts

My truck is in the shop, the weather is rainy, so it’s time to help my son Jude turn this Black Jack Oak plank into a shelf.

Watch out for underground bee and hornet nests

Think of it as primitive poetic justice. A couple of times I’ve worked for a guy who had been a missionary to a cannibalistic tribe in Indonesia. That man had some interesting stories.

Watch out for underground bee and hornet nests

While felling a dead pine a few years ago I stood right on top of a yellow jacket nest. They quickly alerted me to my trespassing and chased me all the way to the truck. A hand full of the brutes followed me in to the truck and a bunch kept smacking the glass trying to get me. The next day I...
