Well, there’s some great suggestions…
The only thing I’d add would be to drink a couple of Red Bulls (they give you “wings”) and listen to the sound track from the movie Jaws. You’ll be climbing like a pro in no time.
The hammer head part is very rounded with no texturing. You can drive a wedge in for a felling cut, but it sometimes glances off. You won’t regret buying it though. It is very useful for the stump cut.
That little blue Estwing is called the “Fireside Friend”. It’s useful to have on hand, but not the best wedge driver as the head is rounded and has no grip. It shines with stump cuts as it chops the dirty bark off easily and taps wedges for the final cut.
I was attacked by a huge Horsefly recently and in my efforts to swat it I stuck my silky in my palm. Not sure that I should be allowed to handle sharp objects… :endesacuerdo:
I don’t have any more Hemlock seed, but I still have a few seedlings that made it through the Summer and somehow managed to avoid getting eaten by the slugs. Hopefully they will push out new growth in the spring. Right now they are still tiny.

I already have a Pecan off to the left side of my house in that picture. Plus I’ve heard that it’s best not to plant the same species in another tree’s former location. Nematodes and a depletion of specific nutrients, not to mention species specific diseases.
