Nothing crazy, but good fit and finish and clean build are important to me.
Probably:
Freightliner M2112 or SD114, possibly an extended cab, but probably standard.
Detroit 13L
Allison Transmission, maybe the DT12V, but probably Allison.
At least 100 useable gallons of fuel capacity for the...
Buyers makes a variety of product lines when it comes to boxes.
This is what I have used for going on 4 years and will be ordering more of.

I have a single axle with a tag hook lift truck and a tandem with a tag grapple truck.
Fuel economy is a function of weight, speed, and acceleration, aerodynamics are a brick either way. 350hp automatic on the hook lift, 505hp and 12 speed automated on the grapple truck. Empty they weigh...
Which toolboxes do you have? I have their barn door Pro Series smooth aluminum boxes and have zero complaints. 24"x24" boxes, 4x4' and one 3' between the two trucks. Going to add another to the grapple truck and one on the lift at some point, potentially soon.
I've never ran one, but I've checked them out, used to think they were interesting. The shape of the front of the subframe costs some real estate in the body. The dead lift nature using a common winch is pretty meh.
It's like a heavy duty DR Power version of a roll off.
I ended up building a...
This is the one I bought.

What don’t you like about the control cables? I’m at almost 7 years on my Swaploader using cable controls… two chassis, zero issues sometimes punching way out of its class. My first guess is road salt/corrosion causing issues.
It it worth the hassle of a cab over? The only cab over I've had was a Mack MRU.... Unless something comes along to change my mind, I won't be getting another cabover.
The Isuzu has a up to a 50* cut angle, the M2 106 has up to a 55*. The bumper to back of cab is roughly 2' shorter on the...
Excavators are great for handling material, not great for forwarding material, loaders are the opposite, tractors are neither.
I upgraded excavators last spring and sold my old excavator last month. That excavator was bought new in 2013, and was my oldest piece of equipment. Excavators are...
You like power and torque.... but you mention a 261 with a 20" bar. If we're just talking typical cut speed, the Milwaukee will cut faster than a ported 261, but it'll weigh 1/3 more, ~15lb vs ~20lb.
We keep 3 gas saws on the truck, two 500i and a 201, all ported by XS. For typical cutting...
No, all my saws follow that logic. Milwaukee uses a different chain but otherwise it keeps the inventory simple.
If I duplicate my Milwaukee saws, unless some specific need comes up, they’ll stay running the same bars, to simplify inventory.
Yep, our standard is 14” on a top handle, on rear handles we go 20”, 28”, then 36”. Whenever the time comes I’ll probably convert the Milwaukee pole saw to match the top handle.
I assume I resemble that remark.
I overheated one battery last week with temps in the 70’s in the dual battery saw. Non Forge batteries overheat much easier with their tabbed batteries and tighter build.
Last summer I overheated an 8 and 12Ah HO batteries within maybe 10 minutes of each other.
The 6Ah Forge batteries work...
You can also lean on the saw more in high, which would increase the load on the motor and increase battery drain. It’s not hard or wildly unusual to overheat a battery, even a Forge. I overheated an 8 last week with the dual battery saw.
Milwaukee batteries don’t balance which can definitely...
The MS362 and MS661 have the same chain speed...by your logic they should cut at the same speed with the same bar length. High mode definitely cuts faster than low.
My hypothesis is with no load on the chain, the battery will last the same time spinning in high or low.
I don't try to maximize...
