so this is all I would need to pass the ISA certified arborist test? does anyone reccomend any other guides to help pass the test or is this it?
thanks for all this info guys, wow i didnt realize all the posts this thread got.
Ive been trying to spot some older f450 / f350's...unfortunatly im not mechanically inclinced what sort of stuff should I look for and look to avoid? Maybe a certain year or engine etc.? also Gas or Diesel??
im very interested in learning about this load multiplication as well.
also im not sure what you meant by the golden gate bridge reference. I mean , I know what the bridge looks like but are you saying to run the rope in that fashion up in the tree anchor end or on the ground anchor end?
never done a speedline in a removal scenario, probably because we mostly do just pruning....
anyways...lets say the scenario is speedlining peices over a house so you must tension that speed line up. How do you all actually tension and anchor the line to be sure it wont sag down too much when...
Do you perform your own work on the weekends? maybe ur a pickup truck and dump trailer? maybe your a beat up old chipper and a dump truck? maybe you rent a chipper and haul a dump trailer. or maybe you have a big dump truck and you just slash the brush up small and stuff it.
anyways Im...
after ascending into a tree SRT on a static line with a basal anchor. If i want to switch off the static line to a normal line (say tachyon) to work the tree DdRT with a hitchclimber pulley do you guys just have your groundman untie your ascent system and bring it down for you? I have nobody...
thanks Tom, this information was very helpful. I currently use a VT/hitchclimber for DdRT. I was thinking using VT/rope wrench/Haas knee ascender/ And some sort of foot ascender. As far as what brand foot ascender and how to secure this to my chest with all these bungees shoulder things I gotta...
I am looking for a guide/website or something I can reference when I need to know if a specific species of tree will/should survive a transplant and what time of year is best to do it? Something that says do not even try transplanting this species this time of year etc. I used to do...
Been climbing double rope over 5 years now. Im looking to get into SRT especially for long 50 foot + ascents where I would normally slap on the footlock prusik and wear myself out.
There are so many different types of gear and different configurations I do not know where to begin! I am hoping...
awesome thanks tree humper. I was thinking a little too hard there that makes sense to me now.
This sparked a new question for me also, how does the rope handle being loaded on its side like that versus the usual way?
what kinds of forces and such are we dealing with when Rigging down a tree using an Equalizing type method, Now Im not sure on the equalizing term I used but lets say you are taking down a tree that is smack in the middle of 2 other trees and you run a pulley in each one of those outside trees...
will do,
heres a more specific question. Right now I have a 66 DL .325 Pitch .50Gauge 16 inch Bar on my husky 346XP I believe it to have some sort of low kickback chain. What type of chain would you reccomend for this saw for bucking and limbing. Also Do you think this saw could push a 20" bar ?
to take it further, my thinking tells me not to climb on a rigging line because my company has a few crews and I am not always there to see what happens to these ropes in their life.
I am worried that if I start rigging off the bucket and our companies "young talent" (or anyone) sees this...
thank you very much that was very helpful getting me started here. I have found the Oregon Chain selector guide that lets me match up specs of the chain based off a number on the drive link. I cannot find the stihl or husqvarna version of this and I have more chains to check.
but thank you!
I'm trying to learn how to match Saws up with the right bar and chain and the different types of chains etc.
I have spent some time goggling around but all I keep finding is people posting in this chainsaw lingo I haven't learned yet.
I'm very ignorant when it comes to this stuff I need a...
looking to find someone reasonably local who is interested in selling a chainsaw I can come pick up.
Not looking for a saw that needs work but hoping to save some money on a used medium size professional saw for weekend work.
oh and husky or stihl please.
thanks!
