Hello All,
I’m shopping around for a used harness to use for introducing people to tree climbing. I came across a Teufelberger S Light. The tag on the inside of the waist belt tells me I need to discard the harness.
What the ;~£~^}€{!!!!!!!
Any thoughts or insights you can share?
Thank you.
Good morning,
I don’t know about you, but sometimes I can’t see what I need to while in the canopy. Perhaps it’s adjusting the settings on a mechanical device, removing a splinter, or….wait for it…..reading a text or email.
I purchased a pair of these that I tuck in my bandage kit. They work...
Hello Richard,
The Hitchhiker XF has a screw plug that places additional tension on the rope during descent.
Can you talk for a moment about the relationship between the plug and the prusik? How tight should the prusik be? How do they interact most effectively?
Thank you.
Njdelaney,
You're probably right about the experience of first time friends. However, I want them to get hooked, which will come with a little comfort/stability. I like "door #2", however I don't think I can justify a second saddle for me. They're just a bit too pricey for that type of luxury...
Thanks everyone for your thoughts today. As I'm reading and researching the recommendations, I notice that most (all) of the more affordable saddles don't include lower Ds...which is very unfortunate. If I want to take someone climbing, and get them to feel the true pleasure of moving securely...
“I put a CMI TriTie (pulley with three attachment holes, similar to, but a lot cheaper than, the hitch climber pulley) on the main attach loop both to save wear on the loop and also to give me three attach holes. I climb on the center hole and use the two outer ones for the lanyard.”
Burapeg, I...
Hello All,
I regret to say that I have acquired enough gear now to create a second climbing outfit. It doesn't have some of the fancier bells and whistles, but it would be an excellent starter outfit. The only thing missing is a saddle. As it's not my primary, and I like my existing primary...
Thank you, all. I went with the CT. Your input was greatly appreciated.
As an aside, with the addition of a saddle, I’ll have enough gear to outfit a friend.
The only question is which will come first: making a friend who wants to climb, or finding a second saddle?
Hello All,
I own a Notch Foot Ascender.
Yesterday I had the good fortune to climb some 200' Redwoods with a group of the nicest tree climbers around (pro and recreational). The ascender Notch Foot Ascender has one really great quality, in that it's easy "on" in terms of attaching it to the...
This viewing led me down an internet wormhole of all sorts of disastrous tree cutting footage...many with a guest appearance of - The Ladder!
Many appear humorous, but I'm pretty certain their was a lot of physical pain as well as financial pain associated with many.
Be safe, ya'll.
I know I’ve learned a thing or two from everyone on this forum when this doesn’t look like an optimal situation. I wonder what type of lanyard he’s using (smile).
But wait...there's more!
If the link above wasn't enough for you, check out this cool scene. What an amazing planet. How the heck did humans get invited to the party? We've certainly overstayed our welcome.
Hello All,
I hope the day finds everyone well.
As is quite evident from my steady posts, I'm kind of strung out on this tree climbing thing. I spend a good amount of time watching all of the videos that everyone has posted, and reading the discussions/debates/advice on this forum.
I recently...

I stumbled into this, and can't stop watching it. Simply amazing footage. I hope you enjoy it too.
