Rec harness?

A wealth of information here thanks everyone.

I have a yxgood and it's an incredible value for the money, it's also very cheap ;). It's totally suitable for a rec climber. The trade off for Its cheapness is thar its adjustments loosen themselves and you can't hang for a long time, i'll get uncomfortable after maybe 15 mins. But you can tie on another bridge, and it has side d's so it's not too shabby. If you hate it, you still only spent 60 bucks on it! Great for beginners who don't know if they want to commit.

That said, I am thinking of buying a "real" saddle now and seriously thinking about a monkey beaver.

I have a Twist as a second guest saddle and use it myself sometimes. It is very adjustable and a really comfortable saddle with an unbeatable price. I don't miss side D's; they are just too uncomfortable to hang on. Rec climbing, I am never using spikes or standing on them using a saw, so almost never needing to lean back on a lanyard with side D's. I put a CMI TriTie (pulley with three attachment holes, similar to, but a lot cheaper than, the hitch climber pulley) on the main attach loop both to save wear on the loop and also to give me three attach holes. I climb on the center hole and use the two outer ones for the lanyard. I have side D's on my main saddle, a NT Yellow Jacket, but use them mostly just to hang gear on.

Burapeg, I like this use of the tritie with the lanyard. Is that still working for you?

Yes, the pulley is still in place in the loop, although I mainly use the saddle now as a guest saddle if anyone wants to climb with me. The pulley has really saved wearing out the webbing loop. I still have the Yellow Jacket too, mainly if I have to hike any distance, since it wads up so small in a backpack. But my regular go-to saddle is my Onyx with its two rope bridges. I balance in the Onyx perfectly with no tendency to tip back or feel discomfort in my thighs.
