    I was a 36" waste when I fist bought it. Then dropped to a 32" waste. I tightened it as far as possible and had the elastic / velcro inner belt overlapping quite a bit and had to use suspenders to keep it up. The large is really meant to fit a 36- 40" waste.

    It is surprising how well they hold up for what they are multilateral wise. Mine are still going strong. I have 6 pairs of each (fleece lined and not) so I keep the in rotation. Wore a pair of fleece lined yesterday while shoveling out from the snow storm we had and was toasty the whole time.
