Mechanical Advantage Kits- the Tom Hoffman U- Rig Kit, or something else?

I built Tom's U-Rig and have found many uses for it.
It's designed with three pulleys to help prevent rope on rope and room for the prusiks.
It's a well thought out system by a man with a brilliant mind.
If you haven't watched his build video on it you should.
He explains everything including the hardware component choices and why.

I've used mine to pull trunks over, swing stems, snap tall skinny tops off in tight quarters.
I've used it with a few more pulleys and a bunch of rope to set up a 20-1 on a super sketchy 80' Oak.
lIt was long dead and badly rotted.
I climbed up it about 30' until the barkless exterior became 3 inches of thick dry sponge that I was able to shave off with my hand saw.
Behind that was bone dry holding wood with long vertical cracks running up it.
I didn't dare try to climb any higher.
On the ground I had no room to fell the whole tree so I put a rope in it and I tried to snap off some of the top but it wouldn't break and I gave it everything I had trying.
Though it wouldn't break at least I knew then that it was safe to climb.

I love my little U-Rig system.
It''s kept in my truck neatly packed in it's own dedicated case for those special need situations.

ISC Haulerbiner.
That's where the "Nice!" in my previous post was directed at. I like the simplicity, and the light weight associated with those pulley biners. They are excellent for a quick set up with minimal hardware involved.

To me that is an excellent system for light duty tasks.
I hope it preforms well for you in everything you ask of it.

I made mine super cheap with some bluewater pulleys, tritech and very small cordage for prussic grabs. I think the whole thing is worth $80 have about 75' of rope in it. Hauls like a true set of 4s with the progress capture.
Set up is that a 15’ 5:1? Doesn’t that close too often and be a pita?

I Watched Tom's videos when he posted them and wanted to build one since. Posted in this thread back in 2016..... Finally got one assembled. Still some fine tuning and practice is needed. Plan is to splice some 8mm Ocean Poly and 10mm Icetail E2E.

Any leads on where I can find a RockO with lanyard pin?

Looks good! Try Gap Arborist Supply for the Rock-O; good chance I saw one on the wall there. Or at least if my memory is correct that’s what I saw.

Try this one: https://www.gaparboristsupply.com/Rock-Exotica-Rock-O-Wire-Eye-Auto-Lock-Carabiner/item/C3 WEA

I know I’ve seen something there with a pin as well, I just don’t remember what it was.

Coming from a rescue background, I usually set up a z-rig and pull it with a 5:1 for heavier loads. For lighter loads, I just use a z-rig or the 5:1.

The 5:1 is a dedicated rig which uses one SMC Advance Tech HX Progress Capture Double Pulley.

I have a bunch of SMC stainless steel rescue pulleys which are useful for adding redirect(s) to get the haul system near ground level so it can be reset as necessary.
