Thanks, appreciate your views. I just ordered a 92 footer. Be here (dealer) from Italy in late July. Plenty of time to kill production before winter hits. I am just constantly looking around at trees that will be so much easier with this thing, pruning huge pin oaks included. Wish I had it...- treevet

I am on the verge of buying one also. Wondered what the considerations from you or any others are as to differences between the 83hd Arbor pro and the 92'? Are there more considerations such as maneuvering or side hill/uphill/downhill movements. I bet they are a devil to upright once tipped...- treevet

^ One direction to explore. Either way likely a death warrant. But the exploration would warrant culturing and protecting of other valued trees asap. Kevin, I disagree that elm flagging is not diagnostic. A diagnostic process is the sum of all the parts prior to lab verification. Elms flagging yellow under normal growing conditions usually in late June here and nearby A. elms apparently diseased and dead and dying and galleries and wilting...- treevet

Looks like Dutch Elm Disease?
B Bacterial wetwood (slime flux) in this pict. Nothing apparent to indicate DED in your pictures. Elms will flag in june or turn yellow like you mentioned in portions of the canopy or entire canopy as a symptom often. I think the only way to get a foolproof diagnosis tho is in a laboratory.- treevet

I really like your thoughtful last sentence. I am surprised no one called the tree out on a less than optimum cut at the point of infection (which appears to be saprophitic ?). Kevin, that's what I thought but can wait until it fruits in spring to summer to id it as I doubt it can be cultured for an id in this condition can it? This is early stage of infection as I looked at this tree a year ago and nothing. Everything about this tree appears as it should...except...- treevet
