Hey Eric,
Did your SIL ever find a dealer? If not I found this today. I'm in the market for one myself.
Looks like this guy is a dealer and ships.

Great seeing you at the Charlotte too Brother!
Hey All,
Been drafted to fill in at a Certified Arborists Review Class in a couple weeks. No problem handling the subjects but I have no power point to work off.
Anyone have a slide show for Tree Selection?
A bonus would be Tree ID as well.
Thanks in Advance!
We used to say something like,
"...many services, techniques and procedures may mitigate (reduce) the risk of tree failure but no amount of work, cabling, bracing, pruning or any other practice or device can make a tree “Safe” or prevent it from failing and causing catastrophic, even fatal...
I agree that a 4:1 roi is not that good for a single marketing effort but it is not necessarily out of line with what may be considered acceptable in the business world. Back in the day, when I was but a wee little college boy studying business, your total marketing budget was considered...
Just wondering how y'all deal with the cotter pin on the hook latch.
We keep it installed during operations and only remove it to install the slings. Several questions are on my mind:
Do we have to secure the latch at all times, or can we leave the cotter off?
What other type pins are you...
Doing some preliminary investigation here. Anyone see this before on Basswood? Any suggestions as what suspects to examine? Client says it is sudden onset, not seen before this year.
I agree since our climbing systems utilize all sorts of knots that have a reduction of strength factor involved. The key, I am supposing, is to have the individual components conform to the minimum tensile strengths. In which case, since my TIP/FS is made of 16 strand climbing line, with Steel...
I made it with each leg 24" long. However I might have made it differently had I actually measured the ball/becket assembly. I used photos of my set up and using the length of the cable tail as a gauge to "measure" the picture I came up with that length.
I do too Mark. I did get a comment from one of my own people, though, saying in a "girth" configuration our slings are de-rated by as much as half and he's worried that the same applies to the FS.
Thoughts?
So I finally got the crane back from DOT inspection...We Passed!!!!
I also had a chance to try several ways of attaching the TIP/FS. It hangs a bit lower than I expected (error in measuring :() I tried it 3 different ways: First girthing it to the rigging ring at the becket. Second putting...
Thanks for all the input! Also, thanks for the thoughts on the pinto and ice tail. Pretty much I was looking at it more as an illustration of the concept/configuration/alignment of were I'd be attaching my TIP/FS system to the haul line. I had't even begun to think about the actual FS portion...
I've been retained to write a report regarding a very large tree that has lost better than 60% of its root flare and is threatening two dwellings. This report will be submitted to the tree owner and my clients to establish "notification" of the problem as well as document the conditions of the...
Thanks for the input so far! Lots of good thoughts and feedback.
The icetail and pinto are just what I happened to have on hand. It was originally created to be used as a secret weapon so that is probably what it is going back to being.
Meanwhile I think I'll take some 16-strand and make...
