Love it! Wether it is the right tool for me or not, I don't care.
The innovation and progression is wonderful and there is certainly a market for it.
Bravo!

You're dead right Timbr. What Gordon has achieved is something truly spectacular!
Not only has he provided a device of unquestionable quality and unprecedented performance, this device has inspired people around the world to reassess their usual techniques.
I have been inspired by the BDB to...
I think we all hear what you're saying Dave but one can't account for stoopid. Lol!
I think the assumption is that we are competent and the chat is about the rope technique and systems, not chainsaw technique.
Human history has shown that no matter how much safety, backup and redundancy one...
You order one from Surveyor by sending him a message.
You won't regret it.
After a few quick descents it will be bedded into your rope and after a week your muscle memory will be completely dialled in.
I had a HAAS, then I modified it last year until I ended up with what you've got.
Same design but different components.
It's not as smooth as the HAAS because of misalignment but I prefer it because it's there all the time.
I'm in England though so I don't climb enormous trees.
Great thread so far.
At 7:10 on this video is the best redirect I've come across and I now use it 90% of the time.
It allows you to distribute the loads equally either side of the redirect branch to avoid undesirable loading of the branch.
It's simple.
It's safer.
It's brilliant.

I've been thinking about this recently stheis004 but I haven't figured out a way of doing it.
The horse knot seems a good idea but I can't get my head around it whisky sitting at the table so I'll have to try it in the tree.
Looking forward to any more ideas coming to this thread.

I've had my BDB for nearly a year as whilst I loved it from day one for its slack tending ease, I wasn't happy with descending. Found it jerky.
After a while though and after a few long fast descents the device appears to have bedded into the rope. Now it's smooth and predictable, flawless...
Thanks Oceans. That all makes sense but it was just something I was curious about.
The straps are around the widest part of my foot and feels ok.
Love the boots and really recommend them to others.

On my Clip 'n Step boots the 'stirrup' wraps around the widest part of my foot.
Is it the same on yours?
Mine have always been this way but it's a different position to where the Floop sits on my chainsaw boots, so it feels odd.
Not a complaint I just wondered if my boots are odd or normal...
I tried on a pair of these boots and found them to feel like a second skin. What is not clear is, are they waterproof?
There is a label that says 'Event 4 layer waterproof membrane' but I've never heard of this product and when I phoned Honey Brothers, I was told that they are not waterproof...
I did exactly the same thing several months ago and really wish I had not.
The climbing rope now dangles inline with the spike and I have to be really careful not to spike my rope on every movement.
The Mike Powers Spikescender is the way to go.
So my question is which neck loop do you guys use?
I've been using the Swingdude chesty but have found that it isn't perfect with the BDB (The Swingdude chesty is perfect for my HH because I clip it to my harness ring).
I've shortened the bridge on my Tree motion which helped a little but feel...
