Covid Close To You

A good friend of my fiancé is losing her father to covid. He was unvaccinated. He was in good shape, not a smoker, obese, or inactive. Not even 70 years old. He was hospitalized a few times and now his lungs are so damaged that he is home on hospice care.

I've had too many friends lose parents and older relatives to covid. I feel fortunate thus far that all my relatives have stayed healthy or pulled through after getting it.
 
I think when you say "tropanine" you mean troponin. I don't know anything about the cases you're referring to of people being turned away but I can tell you that you can't self-diagnose heart inflammation, which is what both endocarditis and myocarditis are. You can also put yourself into an abnormal heart rhythm like SVT(Sinus Ventricular Tachycardia) or have PVCs(what most people call heart palpitations) just by being anxious and letting it get away from you. If you add caffeine or even mild dehydration, this could make it seem like you're having a heart attack when in fact you are not. That's why these things need to be diagnosed objectively with blood draws and diagnostic procedures and not guesswork and internet research.

There are posters up in our hospital counseling patients to be “active participants” in their health and “ask questions.” Pre-research before seeing a provider is a damn good idea like reading the chapter before going to class; have a loose framework to speed up knowledge. Don’t think making firm decisions solely from reading mayo or webmd etc would be.

I had my pcp tell me flat out to “look up pictures on Google” when I asked about a mole on my back my girlfriend pointed out, I didn’t keep seeing him.

Understand and agree with your basic point, but I have been let down so many times by medical professionals as have loved ones. I’ve had better care from nurses and nurse practitioners than MDs anyways.

Agree totally with being informed and asking questions. My sister and mother drive me nuts with their lack of involvement with their own treatment. My sister, who had cancer surgery this week, wasn't even sure what type of cancer she had when diagnosed, "I don't know. I think it's the same kind as before." Blows my mind.

I have no qualms about changing doctors if I don't like one, though I've only had the need to do that twice. Nor do I have a problem seeking a second opinion when warranted. If you don't get good care from a physician, find another one.

It should be noted that the current health ( LOL) of our country is based on the products and recommendations set forth by following 'accepted' standards and guidelines.

Think about it, we have a society, news media, science, and education system, controlled by monetary interests that have set aside moral restraints.

did he get ivermectin?
 
was interesting going to South America and Mexico during Covid where the whole thing has not been politicized. there was no doubt about wearing masks. no doubt or ridiculous conspiracy theories about the vaccines, there is and also an openess to treatments such as ivermectin which are widely used to treat other viral diseases such as dengue which is common. Its known to be pretty safe and the attitude is that since there is also no proof that it doesnt work, than why not? it was refreshing to be somewhere where everything wasnt politicized.

What confuses me is the volume, both in noise and bulk, of anti-vax attitude is about equal to support from fans of Iver.

We have shots and boosters available here for free too. The stats seem to backup the position that being vaxed will make a possible infection easier and less damaging.

Why the heck would anyone try Iver? Especially if they aren't expecting equal research and results as there is for the C19 vaxs. The Iver attitude isn't consistent.

If the choice were Iver or nothing...well..then...different story but that isn't what we have here.

The argument does seem too dang political and non-scientific.
 
i am fully vaxxed, and that was an incredibly easy decision for me. but if i were still to get sick, which is still possible. ivermectin does appear to be an option. honestly there are not really any other options of treatment that i know of. when I was in SA, vacinnes were not yet available to everyone and the ones that were, were only the chinese and russian vaccines.
 
Some folks theorize that the ivermectin studies conducted in less developed countries show positive results because the people are being cured of formerly untreated parasitic infections.

For those looking for the most current statistics, this video does a good job giving a more complete picture actually happening with Omicron.
Chris is opinionated and has a bias, but just try a find someone who isn't at this time. At least he is capable of changing his mind when the numbers and accompanying data indicate a change is warranted.


 
The problem with Omicron is not that it is more deadly, or even as deadly. The problem is that it is the most transmissible and quite simply, the more time this virus gets to spend in human hosts, the more it will continue to mutate and change. This means more variants with different characteristics like Delta which has proven to be quite dangerous to vulnerable people. It also makes it harder to have a vaccine that provides blanket protection when you have tons of variants. It is likely that the Omicron variant wouldn't even exist if everyone who had access to the vaccine had opted to get it at their first opportunity, and this continues to be the case right now. It was first detected in South Africa but that's only because that country has been better about testing and reporting to the WHO, and the result was travel bans and sanctions for that part of the world. This ends up creating a disincentive to other countries to test and report new variants because they can't economically handle being sanctioned by big economies like the US. This is a failure of the Biden administration but I have no doubt that whatever party or person had been in office would have done the same thing because the optics of doing something that people THINK is protective of our country is more appealing politically than explaining the nuances of solving this problem to a bunch of knuckleheads who don't have the capacity to hold complex ideas in their heads.
