What Grinds Your Gears?

IPM visit today. The Family had someone butcher up some beautiful red and white oaks. A few were topped, pruned up and all had spur marks. I let her know when I spoke with her. Such a bummer to see such beautiful big trees hacked.

How about a woman with a baby carriage with an infant inside walking under you when you are making a cut fifty feet up over a public sidewalk on a main drag in town even though you have signs set up, caution tape roping off the area and cones. Oh yeah baby it has happened to me. I always look before making a cut, saved two lives that day.

Beat that.

On a heavily foliaged tree removal, no one leaving a substantial branch to clear the throat of the chipper after cleanup (or chipping the branch set aside for the purpose)...
It is difficult to teach people that lol. Best thing you can do is illustrate your point right in front of them. Communication before the job might help but it will take like ten times in order for anyone to start listening and taking it to heart. I experience a similar problem when people try to push everything through with the pusher instead of just grabbing a long branch. Saves so much time. Also no need to stand there and watch the material go through. Absolutely rediculous.

dogs in the backyard have had a few close calls, one crew I know of took out the precious pet... wouldn’t have-wanted to be on that job...

Meeting with a client that has a few trees on a actively stuffing bluff overhanging a creek, eagles soaring by and looking at you like your from the moon mentioning permits.
Evo, what is a stuffing bluff? Or was that a typo

People letting their dogs out is a huge problem too! Someone recently said to me "if my dog comes over to you while you are working please don't pet him." I replied, "maybe you should keep your dog in the house while we are working or take him out on a leash."

Nothing wrong with stopping work on a job for two minutes and telling a homeowner to keep their dog under control.

I had one today. A lady wanted to talk to me for 20 minutes about stuff unrelated to the tree bid but wouldn't let me talk about and explain the options on my bid for literally 2 minutes.
