Another stumpie from today. This is an amazing parcel with tons of huge old growth on it, but we are harvesting about 8-10 average second growth, and will be milling the logs for a new house and shop they will be building next year. Fucking yellow jackets have been kicking our ass's on this job. I took 8-10 bites a few days ago, and took 4 head shots today before they ran us off.

What? Don’t you know how to fell a tree?! Obviously you were not violating a beaver while holding his head into the “face cut” any true tree man on the west coast does it this way. Freakin amateur shit

I got dinged this week too. Forearm blew up like Popeye. Itchy AF!

Nail your undercut, never cut-off your fucking hinge, get the weight of tree into undercut through wedges, tag-line, tree jack, ect.. Simple shit really, so I don't know why some of us feel the need to re-invent the wheel?

Wasps are some angry evil demons. i could barely sleep last night my head hurt so much.
I will be skidding logs out with the 518 tomorrow, so I am gonna go by the job this morning and pour some gas down their hole, and light that motherfucker on fire!

Redwood does not have quite the strength of something like Fir, and in many places isn't to code for framing and structural stuff. The tree police, Osha, building codes? Fuck all that! Most people can't afford to build with Redwood anyhow.

When we build with Redwood we follow the spans and guideline for Fir, and they turn out perfect. Plus Redwood is gorgeous, and it lasts for ever!

True that! Every once and a while we find a redwood water tank, bulkhead, dunnage for post and pier homes, etc.. When ever I get some time I'm building a timber framed kit for a camping shack (200 sq ft) to go on my land in Oregon.. It needs to be rot resistant, easily assembled, and transported on a trailer when disassembled.
I was planning on Red Cedar, but seein all this redwood has my gears going..

He does a lot of mortis and tenon work, but this was for a local park and this is how they demanded it been done. Still a beautiful structure with a cool industrial feel!

Paul I don't know if you have looked in on the "New hitch for the HHX" thread, but Brocky has come up with a hitch he calls the Knut H that is flat-out amazing on the HH2.

No I haven't tried that yet, sad to say but I rarely climb anymore. I make more money sitting in my crane...

On another note Ropeteks future is looking a bit shaky as my best friend and machinist who makes all of our products is gravely ill. Doubtful I will be able to continue without him..

I am truly sorry to hear about your good friend and machinist. Hopefully he can turn his health troubles around and begin to feel better. It's also sad to hear about the uncertain future of Ropetek. The world would definitely be worse off if the HH2 and Wraptor were no longer available. Good luck to both you and your friend!
