Omme 90’ arborist track lift!

The OMME is a nice machine for tree work. Some things I’ve learned that you might want to know...

I like to transport the lift with the tracks in a wider position (but not all the way wide); nose into most of ur work (rather than back in); carry mats with u on trailer; use your “turtle” position in tight areas; always top off diesel before using; check tail swing when rotating over leg that’s really jacked up because it can hit (same with the front of the lower boom).

Another thing, if you know your going to reach far over in one direction, level the machine out but not perfectly level make the machine a little higher in the direction you are reaching over to.

Be very careful with everything, there’s a ton to watch out for.

Not to be argumentative but our govt will need to be consulted on the 'free sales tax' part. I believe I have been told that the Excize Tax Board came around and collected after the fact on the sale of a lift. It was quite a surprise to the new owner and a big financial hit.

Not to be argumentative either, but on our end, when we sell in the USA, units are cleared of tax as soon as they go across the Border. This is under the current North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) adopted in 1994, currently under review and negotiation. Some State/County/local taxes may apply as you say Merle.

There may not be sales tax, but states have Use Tax which is the same thing, but self reported when things are bought out of state without sales tax being collected.

No free lunch, and very nearly if not outright misinformation, NAFTA has nothing to do with state collected sales tax.

Not my business to run but here in my state (MI) my sales tax license booklet, and the state web site states:

"Use tax of 6 percent must be paid on the total price (including shipping and handling charges) of all taxable items brought into Michigan or purchases by mail from out-of-state retailers. It applies to purchases made in foreign countries as well as other states." California has a very similar clause.

The import agreement (NAFTA or otherwise) may indicate if the importer will owe taxes, such as collected sales tax if they collected any using a sales tax account in a particular state.

A few retailers in my state will advertise "we will pay your sales tax" as a marketing ploy. All that really means is that they pay their sales tax "collected" to the state on the purchase without collecting it from the consumer. As this thread progresses, this seems to be a different thing. If I was in the enviable position to make a significant purchase like this, I would ask my tax accountant or other professional about the taxes owed if they are not collected at the time of purchase. My layman's analysis is that in most states, including mine, tax will be due. Take it with a grain of salt.

Sales/use tax would be due in PA as well. It’s important that a purchaser is up front and honest with this because the government (feds, state or local) will get its money. A purchase this large would certainly want to be written off on ones taxes which puts it in front of those that would want to collect. If that tax is not paid voluntarily they will bill it with fees and penalties. Make sure you check locally or it could hurt at a tough time of year!

I would imagine is nationwide...uncle sam (s) got us coming and going on fricking everything. Is it really reasonable that the federal government get a piece of the action when someone has to get a $5000 tree removed? The customer didn't "receive" anything bright, shiny, or new... only paid someone to get rid of/ haul off "waste"material...hopefilly in a professional manner. I know i know...it's because it's a "service"...(y)

Okay. Sat. the 24th Baileys is doing a demonstration day. They have a 90 foot Tuepen over there I thought I would take a look at to make sure I cover all the bases.

Ahh, nice. Thanks.

I did go and look at the Tuepen. Platform at 91 foot 10 inches. It has quite a few nice features. Straight boom, just squirts out. Not too sure about that.
