Has anyone used one of these? We just received ours a couple weeks ago and still haven’t taken it out, but any tips, suggestions and any comments are appreciated. Thx

You’ve had it for a couple weeks and you ain’t got sawdust on it yet???? o_O Bring it east we’ll break it in for ya :ROFLMAO:. Congrats! We looked at one at our local show last month. Looks like a very versatile unit. And very TALL too :sorprendido3:.

Yea I know it’s a damn tease just looking at it every morning and not being able to use. Boss out for a month and doesn’t want to touch it till he’s back.. but would you say you only use it when there’s no bucket access or would you use it working along side a bucket???

I will eventually invest in a lift. I think they are versatile machines with great accessibility. I've had plenty of jobs were they would of been perfect on and I have a couple of jobs lined up that I'm subbing out other companies for.
Being able to trailer the unit with a light duty truck and drive across lawns is a no brainer to me. Forget a big bucket truck with CDL concerns.
Here are my concerns,
They are expensive. End of the day they are a 8K-9K pound machine. I think competition between manufactures will drive the price down. Your paying for new technology right now. Think about what an 8k pound chipper, skid steer, excavator cost, and the lifts have small non emission motors that are cheap, $4k-$5k, not $20k. More companies will continue to enter the market as they become more popular.
I'm not sold on the longevity either. A bucket truck will get you 10K hours. Are these units problematic after 2K-3K hours? From what I've heard they still have issues and when they do its big down time because the dealers are probably far away and parts are not readily available. Company I work with has had their lift down for two weeks, only 500 hours on it, because a computer board had to be shipped from Italy.
Companies will continue to improve these lifts and competition will drive the prices down. They are the future for tree care I just don't think they are quite there yet.
But I would love to hear more about prices, brands, and of course how they are holding up.

I was told from a new owner that the cmc 83 footer that is proving popular has a $12,000 computer. And numerous sources are complaining of of slow replacement part availability.

We went with omme because of the fact that it doesn’t have all those features that would fail and cause downtime. I know we on the west coast don’t have very cold weather like the east, and I think that’s what causes some of these problems, electric/hydraulic etc etc

It sounds like these units should be stored under cover. $12,000 computer bill with down time is not good. New equipment shouldn't have any major repairs if maintained properly. When I buy new I expect many hours or miles of hassle free operation.
