Changes at SHERRILLtree

Dave,
We'll get another chance to try the American coffee taste off in about a weeks time.(y)
Myself, I'm starting to convert to Starbucks lately. I'll have to see if the US version is different.

Dunkin' is the American Tim's and Starbucks akin to Second Cup. Here in Jersey it's woeful the lack of really good coffee though it's beginning to change. I like the small roasters and coffee shops. Where I stay in Toronto (Ossington and Dundas) when visiting I have more places to go within a 15 min walk without even thinking about Tim's, Starbucks or Second Cup then I do in all of New Jersey!

I just have to say I am excited to see SherrillTree making huge strides to better serve their customers. The mission to help others do better at their work instead of simply looking to what makes them do better...is easily going to make them a better company in return. I look forward to seeing what these changes will bring. Sean L. is a great guy who has created a lot of positive energy for SherrillTree and I appreciate seeing him addressing issues and working with us arborists to find solutions. Great work SherrillTree!

I have to say, that this kind of love toward the customer and willingness to sacrifice financial gain to gain something far more valuable is what has made TreeStuff.com stand out above all other arborist suppliers, and in fact...any company I have ever experienced. They give back to their customers so much that it seems like they would rather see us successful than themselves. I believe that is at the heart of their success. They have such energy to help their customers make it through the year... finding ways for us to afford the tools that bring bread to our tables and to our families...
They don't win people with free stuff, no. They don't win people with low prices. They win people with their attitude to serve and sacrifice for the benefit of others. They create an energy I have not witnessed elsewhere.
I will never be able to pay Treestuff enough for the service they provide...
Luke and Erin are the best company owners I have found. They have proved themselves to me time and time again. They honestly put everything into their company and it shows.

SherrillTree is taking the right steps. I, as you can see, love TreeStuff...but these changes in attitude at SherrillTree I have seen are looking promising. Keep up the good work making these steps!

I purchase from Treestuff, Sherrill, occasionally Wespur and Baileys and mainly my local supplier, Sheppards.
I believe that competition is good. I would dislike only having one choice.
I support my local guy quite often, because he's local. Nothing beats needing something for tomorrow and picking it up today. He has good rates, treats me great, I don't have to have stuff shipped or worry about the dollar conversion. Unfortunately I tend to buy more cause of impulse.

I like the variety that both Treestuff and Sherrill have to offer.
Was a little disappointed in both companies at last years TCIA Expo in Pittsburgh though. Sherrill for not bringing product to sell and it seamed that by Treestuff holding their venue away from the convention center, they were benefiting from the Expo but not supporting TCIA. Imagine if all the vendors did that?
Perhaps they have their reasons. Maybe it's not cost effective for Sherrill to bring all that gear and employees to a convention and perhaps Treestuff is miffed with TCIA for stuffing them up on the second floor away from all the action in Hartford the previous year. Would be interesting to know. I was disappointed to bring all that $ to the show and not being able to spend it.:D
Bickering & airing dirty laundry between two people (companies) only makes both look poor. Don't tell people what the other guy is doing wrong, tell me what you're doing right. I believe that was the intent of Sean and Kudos to him for doing that.
I enjoy the enthusiasm that both companies have for what we do.

TCI Pittsburgh was interesting from the standpoint that vendors were experimenting with coupling their online tool to the trade show floor. Sherrill had some great spot deals that drove traffic, cool hands on displays while not having a variety of product to walk away with instead using their website to place sales orders. How well that worked remains to be seen by us though Sherrill has, I'm sure already analyzed the numbers.

As for Treestuff being outside the show, we were unable to find them as our driver had the wrong location. But what it did do was raise questions for many as to why. Who snubbed who being the biggest one. All in all, it will be telling to see if things are done differently this fall.

I dunno, Chuck, but every American nickel I bring to Expo gets spent, somehow. Sherrill's "flash sales" every morning in Pittsburgh were amazing.......Silky Zubats f0r $40 for example. Guess you mighta missed out on some of that....you gotta stick around longer!
The Expo booth cost, and associated hassles (setting up, staffing, tear down, etc) must be horrendous. The second floor at Hartford, esp. around the TreeStuff booth always seemed busy enough, and those big hot free pretzels (yummy) being given away periodically were great as well!
I hope both TreeStuff and Sherrill manage to have spots in Baltimore next November, and that both bring lotsa stuff to sell (and give away ;))

And it's been said before, but I really appreciate the educational help that SherrillTree has always offered...through the catalog and website avenues SherrillTree has always been willing to share knowledge for free in an attempt to help us all out. Really appreciated! Thank you.

Forgot to mention Chuck, (disclaimer: purpose of this post is to create jealousy) I think on Saturday am in Pittsburgh, a flash sale Sherrill purchase also got you a free eye to eye prussik. $10 ropeboss bags, $10 Petzl Am'D triact-lock biners....the list goes on.
Obviously you need to hang out with Devon and I a bit more at these Expos. Talk to Jeff from Conecticut; he will back me up(even if I misspell his State)
Lotsa positive energy and good vibes towards Sherrill coming from this Canuck last November!

My wife, Erin and I own 100% of TreeStuff...I even spent my Easter on an online forum responding to attacks from a retired millionaire. ;)

And you, Luke, spent some time today on Easter Monday sorting out a sidetracked order for moi, and going above and beyond to make things right. That counts for a lot, in my book. The owner of a company looking out for his customers. In fact, just received a phone call from Justin at TreeStuff, making sure everything is OK. And it is.
I have a hunch that the OP of this thread, Sean Larkin is a similar sorta guy.

This is an excellent point. Free stuff, jambos and discounts do cost a lot of money. We aren't making it up somewhere else.

My wife, Erin and I own 100% of TreeStuff. She's 32, I'm 35. I'm super proud of what we are building, but I drive a 2004 Ford Ranger and work way too much. I even spent my Easter on an online forum responding to attacks from a retired millionaire. ;)
I've been watching over the posts when I haven't been on the phone or computer the last 4 days co ordinating jobs from a big ice storm we got hit with last week, and I can attest you guys are awesome and have been since I've been a customer ! I've had the best customer service from you guys out of any arborist supply shop and not one complaint other then we need a treestuff north ! Even though your 11 hours away or more it seems like when I email or call your like right here ! Keep up the good work and like Dave says the Canadian Vermeer dealers prices are so out of touch with reality it's brutal! I'd rather wait 3-4 days for an item then pay an absurd marked up price from them!

Sean is a good guy and like me just trying to do a job. I'll say 'my bad' on taking a potshot and stirring the hornets nest, he didn't deserve that. It isn't my place to throw mud and I apologize directly to you Sean. Lets all agree to compete on our own merits and not each others downfalls.

BTW use the coupon code MYBAD to save huge on any order placed this week @TreeStuff.

I love you guys!

Way to go nick putting your money where your mouth is I like and appreciate it. It takes a big man to say he was wrong mean a lot to me and says big things about your character.

I've shopped something with just about everone of our sponsers and love them all and there support. If I could make one suggestion to Sean it would be about the web site. I find it harder to navigate and find stuff than our other arb suppliers. I got my new catalog today also Sean, very nice work.
+1

This seems like a great time to swoop in and close the loop on this thread with a positive note. I'd like to reiterate the initial message that I started the thread about, which was our new policies of free 2-day shipping, and no-hassle, free-shipping returns.

For the Canadians who gave feedback, you have been heard, and we are working on some ideas right now. I hope to share the specifics soon.

In general, I'd like to thank everyone for listening, and for providing feedback. I am not a "tree guy", but I happily serve this industry because it's full of amazing people, passionate about their work, their gear and the industry itself. I especially appreciate that people recognized the sincerity of our efforts, even though they may still be sour on us.

So, with all that said, let me share some good news. Our 2016 catalogs are now out. It looks like more than half of them have already been delivered. Which means I need to start on 2017!

And to bring this thread to a close, I talked to our team this morning about adding some gear to orders for treebuzzers this week. If you place an order between now and Friday April 1 2016, just write "treebuzz" in the comment field on the checkout page, and we'll include one of our new carabiners, a pair of our new ArborLast gloves, and one of our hats. Make sure you specify the glove size.

Thanks again, everyone.

-Sean

Agreed Sean, it's been a good exchange. I'm even getting a chuckle from our competitor's outlandish spokesman. Getting used to it.
As for pro-level climbers, I look forward to witnessing some finely tuned skills this weekend in Texas at ISA's International Tree Climbing Competition. Sherrill employee Tim Bushnell will be serving his umtenth year as a judge and organizer. Tim, you and the other organizers rock! Think Sherrill, Vermeer, Silky, ART and a number other top suppliers will have some sweet surprises for those committing their career to safe, productive and respectful tree care and stewardship. Cheers to ISA and visitors alike!
