Changes at SHERRILLtree

I used the ONLINE code and #OHCANADA and the gear review T-shirt so I'd feel a little greedy by asking for more.

But if they just so happen to run across this my order is 179602 ;)

I love getting a deal but I hate price wars, it means someone is losing to try and win later. In the 70's Japanese stereo/television component and auto manufacturers mastered the art of of operating at a loss long-term to destroy their competition and eventually dominate the market. Took a long time for big U.S. companies to catch on. In more recent history Amazon did the same thing to big and small bookstores all over the country. Love the bargain but it's good to look at the big picture too. Here's to sustainable business practices, Wesspur is an excellent example of steady wins the race in the PNW.

I try to support my local suppliers whenever I can, nothing beats face-to-face personal service with folks that know the industry, thinking ShelterTree in North Attleboro, MA for example.

I hear you Moss. I've bought from Treestuff many times in the past because they have a great inventory and take care of their customers (not just for the stickers and discounts). It's hard to fault a company who've gained success by being progressive and generous.

Just a side note, Bonner credited my account....and I love my Honda and Subaru.

Ouch. That does beg the question, what happens if..? Does Sherrill have a way to tell whether or not the item you are attempting to buy is in stock at the time you place your order? This is an honest question, as it has been awhile since I've purchased any new gear from anyone.

If it was in stock at the time the order is placed, it seems like there ought to be some kind of compensation offered for such a delay, if only in the form of a discount on future purchases.

It doesn't seem to have any indication whether the product is in stock. Treestuff shows shipping time if there isn't stock. Pfanner vents were shipping 2-3 weeks from order date due to a lack of stock, for instance.

"Treestuff shows shipping time if there isn't stock."

This sentence implies that TreeStuff also shows whether or not an item is in stock before you try to order it. Just sayin'.

One of my guys made a sherrill order. Package arrived and he had to call them to ask if they forgot his friction saver. They said sorry the rings are on back order we don't know when they will be in, goodbye. (Close to that anyway). That was the primary reason he made the order. He was pretty pissed about it. I told him a few of the stories of how awesome I was treated by my aborist gear supplier. He said he'll be ordering them from now on too!

For some products, yes others not so much. I ordered a product from TS that stated it was in stock, I even called to make sure. I didn't find out until the rest of my order came that two key pieces were on back order... Unknown delivery date... And yet it still said in stock on their web site. A little over 2.5 months later, three long phone calls and a lot of frustration the items were delivered. In the end I found the back order problem was not TS's fault (problem with manufacturing) but the customer communication SUCKED. I was told twice "we are expecting them in the next week or two".

Sorry for the vent!
