zigzag

Unless i missed something, I don't see how it can be attached midline. For that reason alone I can't give it further consideration.

Correct sir! It's just like art spider as far as inconvenience for mid line attachment.

I still want to try it just for the sake of trying it

yup 275 and once the thing wears out you need to buy a new one. There are no plans for a rebuild like the uni. They did say guys have had it for over a year and said it was going strong but when will it wear out? It's pretty slick but I'll stick with a hitch and a rope wrench.

X2.

Unlike the uni, its stainless wear points. It will last much longer. It bassically is a non midline attachable stainless steel uni.

I would use the zig zag on small pruning jobs that didn't involved sappy trees like Spruce or Fir, but only in dry weather.

I got a chance to put one on and play around with it for a minute and I think that it will be a great addition to my climbing gear. It was very responsive, and there seems like there is little to no learning curve. It also seems like the steel chain will make it last much longer. No replaceable cams may be a good thing!

Just shorten up your wrench tether and off you go, but make sure to read a follow the directions! Petzl has done it again. It's a real sweet tool!

i got a chance to try it out at our annual shade tree conference and boy talk about sensitive! In my opinion, if you had gloves on, it would get pinched and catch on the moving pieces. also i noticed that in order to decend smoothly it took a wrap around the foot to get better control. of course it was on a pulley saver too, so it was sensitive. i would stick with cordage though, although the built in swivel on it reduces bulkiness to the system.

Other than being a cold azz piece of metal in your hand, seems fine so far, but I will admit the worst days I am staying inside lately. It does have the tendency to squeegee the line down your hand ,down your sleeve over your forearm, right off the tip of you elbow. Knots do that as well. This is just more efficient.

As for sensitivity I find it to be just like a well tuned VT, snags gloves less than cordage, but again I admit I don't like hand shoes and wear them infrequently!

Hey Tony,
I have also noticed that the Zigzag has a little more sitback sensation than say a Unicender When the Uni stops on a line it doesn't move. The ZigZag, with the linkage system, acts more like cordage.

I have only been using mine for almost a week and have not noticed any weather related issues with it...yet.

Before I go any further, the device is to only be used in Ddrt configurations, but I will admit that I have used it in a single line configuration and it is very smooth.

Ready for sunny Nebraska?

Donny
