Z Germans are at it again.

Nice to see nothings changed as far as be censorship around here. God forbid you try to have a little fun in the one spot that we were allowed to do so.

Back to Facebook and huge group texts I go.

OK...here's a question that you can answer. Or, just sit back and take potshots.

Why do you think that TB is your personal page?

Why do people think that they can come into a forum like this, do what they want, and then when they get called on their poor behavior cry like second graders?

TB isn't Facebook.

Marc...you allusion to Germans is abhorrent.

Mark and I are pretty relaxed about what goes on here. there are lots of examples of discussions that go on and on that wouldn't be followed at your dinner table with your families.

Would you ask about nude pics on your company website for your customers to answer?

What would you do if your kids had the same question on their Facebook page?

There...plenty of questions for you to answer. I'll be interested to see if and how any replies come in.

Tom. I like the fact that YOU are offended so it must come down. What makes you think that Treebuzz is yours? You started a website that makes money off of OUR opinions and intellect. Kudos to you but that doesn't make it yours. Seems to me we the people are the ones bringing in the page views which is what gets you your advertising dollars.

You owe Ez and I some royalties for the fight to the death thread. I don't need money. I will however accept payment in a sense of humor and a hug. Ez, he wants money.

And your version of relaxed is what I will be taking pot shots at.

And let's set the record straight here fella. No one asked for nude pics. I forced them upon people much like you force your ever changing rules and opinion of what "acceptable" is.

A few people having a laugh in the tree free zone? Unacceptable. X man or any of the other well known stone busters around here out right trashing people without merrit? Perfectly fine.

How many contributors do you have to lose before things change? How stale do things have to get before you realize that it's not for the "better good"

It's not just the stupid deleted thread that was obviously a joke (and it was so stupid. Definitely not my finer moment but don't forget that a few years ago I did threaten to punch EZ's new born child in the face). It's the whole idea of what crap you'll let slide and what YOU find repulsive. You don't speak for the masses. Not even close.

I love how all of a sudden tree buzz is "Disney" family fun time and that you think little Susie has decided to start reading a forums group about tree climbers and, "oh my god, we just ruined her entire family with a joke".

I think most people believe this forum is good and adds value - myself included.

I doubt this forum makes any money.

Sometimes forum topics segue into off-topic subjects.

Sometimes we do not give enough consideration about what we post and hit the send key too quickly.

My background is computer engineering. I have deployed some very large email implementations for fortune 50 corporations. One phrase we know well is email "has no tone" (applies to web forum posts). This means posts are very much subject to interpretation.

Sometimes we are in a jolly mood and may make a joke or cross the line.

Sometimes we are way too cavalier in what we write on email/forums. Some rules of thumb are:
1- Don't write anything you would not say to the person face to face.
2- When in doubt either wait or don't send it.
3- Ask yourself would you use the same tone with your parents, children, a customer, etc ?
4- It is easy to be smug/hostile/nasty. being humble/nice/considerate takes work. Make the effort.

In email you can always hit the delete key. on TB, you can just ignore these comments and move on.

Again, my 2 cents...

-Michael

im always amazed when people think that their PERCEPTIONS of reality are in fact Reality...I find that one of life's ....Funny things
Like when employees say to or about a boss .. "it must be nice to...(fill in the blank)" if they think its that NICE...They should GO AND DO IT!!
Ya mean youre not lining your pockets TOM///?
Shocking.....

Paul, perception is reality. That is what makes things so difficult and challenging.

Hosting anything that involves more than one person takes a great deal of empathy, patience and skilled communication. The more people involved the more complex the job of delivering to everyone's expectations.

In the end, it does belong to Mark and Tom. They are the ones who manage it and are held to account for the day to day maintenance and upkeep. If it were to not work as we have come to expect or wasn't available, guess who would be questioned as to why? We the people or Mark and Tom?

Whether or not they are making money or making ends meet is irrelevant, as it is to our customers. The 'net provides two opportunities, either own the content or own the conduit for aggregating and disseminating it. We can do either one or both if so inclined. But don't begrudge someone for building it then asking you to play by their rules.

Marc...like I told you in a PM before you started this thread, Mike/marlinspiker said that I could just delete the thread because the joke was over.

Take a breath...

Forums are a lot like other people's children...go with the metaphor, I think you can figure it out, you're a bright guy.

You guys are taking my satire entirely too serious here, either because we don't know each other very well or because you have a personal ax to grind with me (seriously Paul I'm still waiting for a response to my PM I sent you)

tree Humper that is one thing i totally disagree with you on!! that would mean that truth is relative...i DO NOT buy it. I agree that perspective is important on how we view truth and do a degree subjective,,,But certain truths and principals are immovable. They are a Lighthouse ,if you will and we must adjust our sails to view them properly.
Im not answering you via typed media...period.

woahh guys i didn't mean to start anything, i was just joking around. Im from the Philly region and we live on 100% sarcasm as a rule. No nude pics were ever posted just the threat of them which i thought was funny and tree free zone appropriate.

Humper i love you brother....but thats a little cliche for a fine mind like yours!! We need to have a beer!
Are you coming to work day?

[/ QUOTE ]

the first time I heard that said I was of the same mind as you but, over time I've found it a good thing to remember when dealing with "realities". You know how difficult it can be to set and trim the sails to reach that lighthouse, and that their is not but one course to steer to get there (watch the clips from the America's Cup races to see this in action!). Is coming to an agreement on that course that is the challenge.

If I can make it I'll be there, if only to have that beer!

Sorry Marc, I missed the thread entirely so I may be speaking out of turn. I've come to be able to read your tone for the most part and enjoy the humor of the ice cream eating champ!

Forgive me, but you are coming across as extremely ignorant. You seem to be chastising Tom for the rules he sets on the forum and what he thinks 'acceptable is'...what are you using as a benchmark on this...is the benchmark you are using what in fact YOU find acceptable?
On a large forum with many members, wouldn't you agree that each and every person will have their own moral standards and levels of acceptability? Of course they will. Then wouldn't you agree then that its going to be near on impossible to keep everyone happy? Again, of course it is.

So it follows the logical conclusion then is that the sites rules and guidelines are best set out and based upon the morals of the site founders?

Lastly, your suggestion that Tom doesn't own this site and that you and the other members somehow have a claim to it is one of the most arrogant things i've read on any forum in a long long time.

Sorry Mark, Tom, didn't want to stir this thread up anymore, particularly as I never post here, but someone needed to say something :)
