DTS. What are the walls made of ? How are they attached ?View attachment 42857 Here's a one listed today
Not sure truck was posted yesterday on Hudson Valley NY craigslist put it on the buzz in case some one was interested in truck. has more details on CL.
Lol always looking for the next good deal.@DTS you spend a lot of time on cl![]()
Okay so truck is at the shop and I snapped a few pics. I also stopped at the first body and took pics but only two came out well due to the sun in my face. I looked at two more bodies. One was an old grain body with metal side and barn door. Full of debris and under a LARGE popular tree. I look underneath and see rotted cross members and punky wood decking with water dripping through. NEXT ..... a 13.5' with telescoping ram w/o a dog house. Looks solid and pump may even work.
Guy wants $1200 for it. Going back in the morning to do some final math on the hinge placement and axle placement ratio. This body has the hinges set back 12''s. I wanted to cut of the cab protector but my builder is trying to convince me to leave it on since I want a removable top. Accidents happen and if something happens while loading from above it might save my cab. Also thinking about the gate. I want the dual barn doors but I like the swing or barn door combo for the bigger tandems. Nice to pull up hit the air gate for swing dumping on other dumping purposes. Then again when I want to load a barrel of rakeings I want to open half a door ...
What you looking for I'll keep my eyes outScrap the last body listed. My buddy is advising to go a different route. The hunt continues. I've checked a half dozen or so local yards and I'm out of places to search. At least off the top of my head.
Anyone have any opinions on this? One thing I kinda don't like is the floor is steel over oak. Down the road when it rots out I'll have to add to the cross members to keep the floor from bellying down.
Thinking of trying to seal off the under body with coating. Any thoughts? Wondering if this might actually accelerate the decaying process? I'm sure the wood will still experience moisture and I don't want to trap it
Anyone have any opinions on this?
