WTB pmi chest roller

evo

Been here much more than a while
Location
My Island, WA
I have to give my hands a break, but I still have to work.
Looking for a single ? sheeve chest roller to see if its my thing...

Seems hard to find 'em.

My rope walking is open fingers, palm to rope. Is that workable? My guess is I'm more top-heavy than you.

What device? Is your bridge adjustable?

Not sure if it'll help, I use a rrp with a rigging loop running from that down to my saddle I hold it about chest height and slide it up the rope with my hand instead of holding onto the rope, I find it to be much more hand friendly than just gripping the rope.

Yes to all, I lean to rope wrench.. but wrench, akimbo, uni, and HH2.. I’m about 6’ and 155-160# small boned..
for big climbs I keep a petzl basic on my saddle to use as a untethered hand hold.
Just got a fucken notch metal wrench tether as I found my self using it like a handled ascender.

I typically lengthen my bridge and close haul it to my chestie so my bridge ring is about half way from the end of my sternum to my nips.. basically where the chest roller would sit.

Are you having wrist issues, finger joint issues, maybe both?

Hydration, stretching, and massage.

I'm working on a bit of elbow tendonitis.

Have you looked into electric secateurs/ hand pruners?

I do notice the amount of small saw starting I do in the tree.

I wonder how that compares to battery saw weight being greater.

Carpel tunnel, feels like a deep puncture type pain or like falling on pavement catching yourself on your palm. Most all the time.
That and a shoulder impingement or minor rotator cuff tear. I know my body pains well and it doesn’t feel like tendonitis.
I have an electric top handle. And it’s great, but heavy as a 200t/o2ot, and the battery life isn’t there.. impressive but not there. I can bury the 14” 1/4” bar and it cuts really well, but can’t block down a 20” Doug on two batteries.

Days of fine pruning kills my hands, and climbing days kills my shoulder.

Looking at loppers for anything bigger than 5/16ths.. can’t see electric handsnips being as nimble as I need.

FWIW, shoulders back, thumbs out posture, and pectoral stretches can help some things. Some of what I got from my PT when my shoulder was whack and had joint pain lower in my arms.

Electric saws are awesome on this front I have the stihl, been waiting on a husky for nearly a year now, the tsa161 isn't as powerful as my gas saws but the battery life is quite good imo gets me through 4+ working hours. I don't usually use it for stuff over about 9 or 10 inches, it makes work way faster and not having to start it saves a ton of energy and wear and tear on your body.
On hydration I take these it makes a big difference not just day of but how I feel the next day in the summer here I can easily drink 2 or 3 gallons of water in a day and still be pretty dehydrated these help a lot.

I always felt like a steel version of that roller would be pretty easy to make. A small plate, webbing strap sewn for a harness and a quickie welded to the plate for a roller. Might be an option since the PMI versions are hard to come by.

You found my picture!

It gives really good pin-point pressure on tight extensors.

I find if I'm behind on things and accept using a mediocre sharp saw (my neighbor's huge lombardi poplar cracked the other day, so sharpening got pushed off), that my lateral epicondylitis (I think)/ arborist elbow/ golfers elbow gets irritated.

Got some acupuncture today, the practitioner chuckled cause the needles kept bending going in.. Kinda like a tree crew, doesn’t make sense to most folks but it just works or helps.
