Been here a while
Anyone have one banging around in their gear bag? Give me a price, take that weight out of your kit, and put it back in your wallet.

If not, I’ll eventually buy new.

Oh, who here has played with the madrock safeguard? Thoughts? I might go that route if I hear enough good. I’m outfitting a short, compact, srs descent only system.

I’ve got the Lifeguard, has a spring that pops it open as soon as it is unweighted. The Safeguard stays engaged because of no spring, though. There’s a lot of saddle hunters using them for positioning on a short choked tether and for descending at end of hunt.

I just got a Safeguard a couple weeks ago from TreeBay here, haven’t used it yet, I’m gonna put it on a lanyard probably. Seems to function very much like a Trango Cinch, Trango Vergo, or Petzl Grillon.

Looks really well made, and like Brocky said, those whacky saddle hunters seem to love them. Made in Taiwan if that matters. MadRock makes fine gear.

The Lifeguard is better for rock climbing belaying as the rope releases each time so rope can easily be fed out. Both are compact and solid.
Gary Storrick’s website of climbing gear is back up, verticalmuseum.com.
