10091.webp What the hell a friend sent me a couple more. @Big rig stopped by to check it out too took the first pic . I think he said he played hide in seek in this tree twenty years ago. 10090.webp
The man who owns the car wash said it shaded the folks waiting for the train years and years ago from history he knew . The rail trail now i think it ran from toms river to tuckerton . (I dont really know , we need a native historian. Im just a colorado kid whom went to the bay. )The train station was where the carwash is now. I think that tree was very old for a maple in our area. By the looks of it. It was bonsai down by wind , elements. Exposed to more as of the same as progres occurred around it. He said it was the same size in 1982 when he bpought the property. Based on what bigrig said it's been hollow as hell for awhile. Which could mean what in ageing it,maybe nothing correct? If I knew more...maybe like @KTSmith about fungi and decay ...what's funny is the one biggest heavy green lead was growing over a high traffic area with two to three inche wall thickness of knotty calus sapwood holding up that estimated 1800 pound lead. I wonder how old this tree was ? Help? Guesses?

A new customer's work...was her mom's house. Neglected Japanese maple and roughly topped dogwood.

Jeez Stihlmadd, did you just get done eating some puppy dogs and washing it down with some crazy Australian coffee/beer mixture in a can? Where does all that anger and rage come from bro? I'm adding you to my "do not f****ck with list"

Haha that story is wrapped up somewhere on the Johnny pro thread about page 16 or so if memory serves me - happy hunting ;)

Actually one of the kindest and well spoken tree killers I've had the pleasure of hangin with, hard to believe eh?

thank you Levi - you are both one well read and well rounded individual yourself good sir.
:tanguero:
Benn is a big pussy cat? Is that what you’re saying Levi?
Hope you’re doing well brother

This was sent to me by another climber the other day - I quite like it,
" There are three things all wise men fear,
the sea in a storm ,
a night with no moon
and the anger of a gentle man".
:)

Red tailed Hawk. my team did say it looked unusually large. I didn't know it was there till I hit the ground and Ben showed me the pics he took from the street.

Those hollows make cool planters. Section them out, plant them in the ground and fill with soil mix and plant something. Have a few in my front yard. Fungus garden as well

Back when I was topping and rigging trees for a yarder in Alaska (best gig ever) I would frequently run into very large, very angry Bald Eagles giving me stink-eye. Not real fun, and I actually feared for my life sometimes. My little tribute to all the Eagles I pissed off. Sorry guys!
