I thought it had to be below 0 for the fuel to gel?

Could've had water/ice in the filter. Just not allowing enough through to run right.
It's always something. Summer time it's radiators and batteries. Winter it's fuel issues and brake compressors icing up.

I wish mine would have gelled up that morning! Found coolant in the oil so I shut it right down.
It does not have to be zero degrees to have a fuel problem if you got bad fuel, lots of condensation in fuel tank, etc... Also wind chill is the enemy. We carry jugs of 911 and spare fuel filters on the trucks.

Athough I completely understand ..... that's kinda like shooting a squirrel with a 50. cal.
Yea... The only other way out was around the house in much smaller pieces with the mini. Unfortunately there was a septic lid in the middle of that path out, and with the weather we have been having the ground has been less than accommodating to the machine. Fortunately we had 7 hrs with the crane elsewhere, and we needed to get some brush from the back yard of this place too.

Good stuff and I run my bigger trucks in temps below -10 no issues. But do keep some jugs of diesel 911 handy !

I go through a couple gallons of Howes every year. I dose every other fill up. I hear it's good to use this stuff to give low sulfur diesel more "lube".
