I know it's not trees but it's a work photo

So that's how you hide the bodies! Much better than a chainsaw and wimpy Lawn & Leaf bags!
Well that gives new meaning to that Herb garden, I guess I'll plant Rosemary too. It's more sustainable than dumping in a landfill I suppose.

Had 2 trees with the 30 ton crane today.
Half dead buckeye right next to the road. Great set up and landing zone image.webp

Half dead black cherry with perfect driveway right under the tree with large landing zone easy to set up... Did I mention the neighbors wouldn't let us use it. Had to fight every piece between these two walnuts, set up half in the flower bed and pretty much landing the picks on the deck of the crane.
Housed it though!

And the video won't up load. Darn

Nice !Interesting swing cab behind the cab and X crossing outriggers. I haven't seen a manitex like that. Lots of cribbing on the deck also. I like that set up!

I like the way he sets up his trucks. All the cribbing on the deck is extra for extreme situations. All the heavy stuff is mounted under the deck between the outriggers and passenger rear opposite the sling box.
The X style outriggers are sweet, if you ever get a chance to work with one do it. They can level up on just about anything around with out fussing too much, just stack the blocks and drop the outriggers. They also increase your work area in situations like mine where the landing zone is small. You can now use the deck to lay things down.
Biggest problem is you get past 50 or 60' (radius) it begins to get light on the chart very fast. But you can put it almost anywhere.

The X-style outriggers were an exclusive design of Pioneer Engineering out of Grandview, Missouri. They were bought out by Manitex, and the X-style outriggers disappeared pretty soon there after. Never had a chance to work with one, but I still see a few of them around.

IMG_20160816_143703879.webp Dead hemlock and bad triple trunk maple over a well house.

Father in law has a band saw mill. Getting as much as possible in millable sizes... Should have made it a 10' off the spar, rather than 12'. Hit the cedar fence board by 1', on a bad bounce. Oops.

Going to flop the 60' hemlock spar onto the chip pile. Maple spars will fell somewhere or other. Much smaller.

My day today. Will finish with the 60t tomorrow oh and the bee suit! Took about 6 hours to get it to where it is now. No space to work. Glad we had the little crane that could.
