Woodstove in a cargo trailer?!

Jim,

The best pancake mix I've found is from Krusteaz, the whole wheat stuff is great!!! Cub carries Krusteaz...just add water!

http://www.krusteaz.com/

My Dad's secret, I'll share it too, for making great pancakes is to put in a cap/teaspoon of real vanilla. And...just flip them once! Making pancakes was a family tradition that Jim started with his girls...now they're all great cooks.

Enjoy the stove!

Definitely vanilla, but I like homemade batter. I replace a bit of the flour with corn starch to add structure.

Corn starch is the key to a nice crisp Belgian waffle too.

Cottage bacon
Real maple syrup (Duh)
Try a cornmeal pancake recipe:
1 cup cornmeal
1T brownsugar
1tsp salt
1cup boiling water
1/2 cup flour
2tsp baking powder
1/2 cup milk
1 egg

I've heard corn meal Blinky, I don't have a recipe though.

I'm thinking Fridays are going to be "lunch on the wood stove day", should be a fun change of pace. I'm kinda burned out on cold sandwiches.

The best pancakes I've ever eaten were sourdough. It was a recipe from my grandma that she got when they lived in Alaska. My Dad and I were able to cook them in a cast iron skillet north of Fairbanks about 10 years ago.

Throw in some reindeer sausage...maple syrup over everything...dang, I'm getting hungry again...I'm gonna start gaining weight from looking at all these food posts.

I spent a bit of time on you-tube last night, lot's of good info for this type of cooking. A big ol' cast iron frying pan is next on my list.

Chuck comes through!

(like there was ever a doubt.)

Thanks Chuck!

Love the idea.

But, I'm concerned for the gasonline first, then the propane. I don't wan't to lecture you...

Even if the fuel tanks were empty, they will still give off vapors.

And when the temperature of your trailer rises, the more likely the vapors will expand and want to leak out of the containers.

Can you store the fuel and propane on the roof?

And that stove in a small place will vent like crazy.

Mine's a 4 Dog made by Don Kevilus in St Francis MN. My setup is well ventilated. Used a CO detector until I gained confidence. No gas stored anywhere close.

I'm having trouble getting your vid to load so I haven't watched it yet.

Remember Jamin it's a lot hotter on the ceiling than on the floor.

I had the stove burning all day yesterday, the gas cans actually had frost on them, spose I could just set them outside when I fire things up.

Mario pointed out the propane thing, I'll change that up and mount the tanks up on the tongue. I've been using the propane heater in there for a little over a year now, no problems but why chance it.

As for vents, the trailer really is kinda drafty, 2 ramp doors and a walk through door. Plus it has a top vent in the front ceiling corner and another at the opposite rear corner near the floor. Oh, one more crank out ceiling vent.

Not like I have to keep it 80 degrees in there, I just wanted to see how she would perform.

Jim
Don't you love how your frozen damp world is transformed after you light that stove!
If you want to see an oven add-on look under "bush gear" at the fourdog site.

I've always wanted a portable stove Chuck and I held off as long as I could. Your avatar didn't help curb my temptation.

I have a 12X20 shed out back that I'd like to try the stove in as well.

The 4 dog oven looks pretty cool.

Ha! I've been meaning to ask you Erlend, do you eat lutefisk over there?

Lol, well not really. I've only eaten it once. Nothing against it, but not that much taste from the fish (in my opinion) But some people still do, and it has recently become an "in" dish served at restaurants arround christmas time. I prefer fresh cod, compared to cod that first is dryed, then soaked inn caustic soda, before it watered out and eventually cooked :-)
