wizz saw or stick saw

seriously...how do the guys where u are get to the work to make proper cuts? do they use alot of poles, do they climbit all? there are some construction designs that dont allot for a trimmer to access their needed work without breaking min separation....and if they can theyd have to reposition several times for one setup. that would be hard to stay in buisness consuming that much time in one spot,.

Hardest thing I trim around is a stacked 3 phase line, 3 conductor and a neutral. Trim what you can from under the lines. Get what you can over the top if you can get anything at all. Flip the boom over and come up from under the wires. Sometimes it does take more than one setup... I never break phases, will pass between neutral and the phone. Unfortunately we only have 55 foot booms so overhang that you can't reach with the truck is either roped out or climbed. Makes you a good trimmer :D

what happens in tight spot on narrow roads where ya cant get lower boom around and unfold the topenough to get it to fit underneith the lines? instead if going between teh neutral and a hot in insulated equipment{im not talking rubbing on the wired either im saing foot above or below} youd rather risk a climber in a set of steel gaffs getting bit? sorry..but if its in the lines and it means me or someone else climbing it over breaking min sep in an insulated piece of equipment im going with plan b. im trying to think of all the probably100-200 trucks ive trimmed beside if there were ever any that NEVER broke the approach distance. im not saying there wasnt but i sure dont remember any. damned if you do damned if you dont. you pick the lesser of the two evils.

If the bucket does not reach it is climbed. Usually the crew is able to prune back the limbs to greater than minimum separation than it's climbed. If we would have to break separation we get a line kill. As far as staying in business we work for the utility, but the crews are not lazy as they averaged .51 man hours per tree (does include work on secondaries) last year and we did plenty of removals (we mostly stay between .62 and .70. No contractor that we had on property ever did that well and have good quality. Crews have great tools and support.

my least favorite line configuration is vertical transmssion with a distribution underbuild. Like an electric wall with an electrical basket underneath...
