no gloves, feel like i have a better grip without. sometimes in a pitchy pine ill wear them or when chipping brush with briars. always when roping.

jamin, you learn right away how to keep your hands on only the knot so as not to get burned

Exactly!!

I use leather mechanic gloves when I am dealing with Russian Olive trees (thorns for those who don't have to deal with them). But, that is only for working on the ground with the stuff.

I find that any leather glove seems slippery for climbing on rope.

Any one else notice that?

I dont wear them ever. I keep plenty of different gloves in my trucks for the guys that work for me but I get all kinds of problems when i wear them. I've tried them all. The latex dipped ones you guys refer are the closest I can tolerate. My hands get clammy and sweaty. Then after a bit they get soft and start blistering. In the winter I will wear mechanics gloves if it gets below 20 degrees. I would like to get used to wearing them though.

That is a down side to the latex gloves. Lately, the temps have been in the high 90's around here. And I have had that.

I have found that if my hands are clammy & sweaty (or nearly water logged) that thorny trees can penetrate my skin easier.

So, I let my hands dry off and work with thorny stuff without gloves (call me crazy). But, if I have a pair of mechanic gloves, I'll switch to them.

Mayer,
I worked a summer as a teen on St Vrain Rd out your way on a ranch and if i remember right, I hardly ever had sweat on me. It was one dry summer and it seemed like my sweat would evaporate before i ever realized it was on me.

North Nitril. Thin, tacky, cut resistant and they don't tear like the atlas latex gloves. Always wear them, the hands are tough but not like sandpaper. Oh and they last a good month with a couple of washings.
