Wine, wine, wine...fruit of the vine

Last weekend I went up to the North Shore for weeeknd hiking

Little did I know that it was St Urho's Day on Friday. St Urho is from Finland and is credited with driving the grasshoppers out of Finland to save the wine crop

The town of Finland, Minnesota celebrates for whole weekend. See the grasshopper float picture

Some kinda fun!

Anyway...I did a cat rescue a few weeks ago and was the hero. The client gave me my check and a bottle of wine too.

My wine knowledge is pretty simple. This bottle was a 2013 Carmenere from Chili. I had no clue what it was so
I googled it. Got a good description but, to me, wine language could put a delicious spin on compost tea

When I pulled the cork and took a sip...out of a glass...not a swig...out of the bottle I was pleased! Mmm...very tasty!

I'm going to try and find more

Anyone else have a favorite wine?

I'm anxious to hear the Peanut Gallery chime in with their favorite Fred Sanford inspired Cham-piple recipes

I don’t know much about wine, but my little brother played guitar in a kick-ass local band called the “Lamont’s”. They always opened the first set with an original tune called “ Dummy”.

Lambrusco Grasparosa di Castelvetro. Mostly available as an import in the US as a secco or dry version, but once in awhile an "amabile" friendly/sweeter version is available. Personally I'm not a huge fan of dry wines full of tannins, anymore than I'm a fan of the recent trend in overhopped undrinkable beers. If I want an enigma wrapped in a mystery, there's single malt scotch for that.

I'm with you...unless there's a good pairing of wine and food. Trying to make that match is wayyyy beyond my skills so I stay away from dry wines

Thanks for the recommendation

The wines I like best have a vintage of less than six hours and can be purchased at the Dollar Store.
Needless to say, I'm not a connoisseur. To me, a good dry wine is worse than a weak batch of kerosene. Just not as flammable. Most of the stuff I drink, you can make into a decent Molotov cocktail.
