Willow Tree Hit By Rain / Wind...Growing Fast??

I told the client to wait and leave it for now. Let it do it’s thing. It could be very expensive for them to try and keep up with that tree just to keep it shaped.

I also emailed the town forester to ask his opinion, etc. as it’s a town tree. Regardless of what some of you think I don’t think the town tree warden is an idiot, and I’m not sure he even was the one that planted the tree. So that’s that.

Anyways, thanks for the variety of opinions. No hard feelings to those of you who think the tree should go. I get it, but it’s not for me or the homeowner to make that decision. So all I can do is try and satisfy the homeowners wants with what the town permits.

Don't worry your forester, if they aren't dumb as a post, will give you the go ahead to remove the tree as it was probably illegally planted by the home owner. Or better yet bring in a large tree spade and move the tree to a better location on the property.

You keep trying to go at this removal or replanting angle and I’ve said multiple times that it’s not for me to make the decision and the client likes the tree. All they want is a shaped / trimmed tree.

I’m not going to get myself in the middle of a thing with the town asking them to cut it down or replant it...the homeowner doesn’t even want that.

It’s not my problem if the tree has issues in the future because of where it is.

And personally, referring to city foresters as dumb or incompetent when you don’t even know them is off putting in my opinion. Clearly you have a strong opinion about this tree, but it doesn’t coincide with the reality of the situation.

If it wasn’t a town tree then it would be a different situation. You guy’s who keep pushing this location and removal thing don’t seem to get it’s a TOWN tree and I don’t have the authorization to do that. And the homeowner LIKES the tree.

Ok weren't you the guy asking advice on how to do work for a municipality not that long ago?
Just because it is a "TOWN" tree doesn't mean it can't be removed and I made the suggestion of moving the tree to a better location.
And if your forester recommended planting a willow tree in the right of way they would be the first I have ever heard of as willows make for quite possibly THE WORST tree for that location. Also if your forester is not an idiot the tree will likely be cut down because it is in the worst location possible regardless of your customer "LIKING" the tree, which I am nearly positive they planted illegally in the first place.
Frankly I don't give a shit what you do with the tree but either way you will be charging your customer a lot of money over the years for something that should have never been there in the first place. Hell, cut off a switch and stick it in the ground forty feet from where it is now and grow a new tree.
Good luck with what ever the outcome.

What the fuck does a past thread have to do with anything? I know how to do work for a municipality. Whatever thread you might be referring to was me asking about permits etc. and also doing work in parks, public places etc.

I appreciate your input and I agree the tree is in a bad location but I repeatedly keep saying removal is not in the cards right now. All I was asking advice on was helping the tree bounce back from the rain and pruning.

Just because things are a certain way where you live doesn’t mean they are the same here.

I already know the tree is in a bad location. Didn’t need anyone to point that out.

But that’s not the topic of this thread. I appreciate the input, but if I’ve repeatedly stated removal isn’t in the cards right now why do you keep pushing it on me?

I don’t get why this needs to be such an argument or why there needs to be reference to the town tree wardens as idiots when people don’t even know where I am or who they are.

The question is do the homeowners like the tree enough to pay for frequent care.

Sometimes i hear how much someone likes a shrub/ little tree under a tree removal. They want to keep it. I tell them no problem, it will cost $xxx dollars to work around the shrub with thousands of pounds of material.
Frequently, they don't like it $xxx amount.
