Why do people get chipped up

That would be worth reporting them to TCIA. But I do understand that. The culture of the company is established by its owners and sr. mgt. If they are always talking about productivity as a goal and safety as a necessary evil then the staff will buy into it. Good on you for moving on.

I think the bandits are set up to allow the jack stand to open the jaws in case of loss of power/hydraulics... more fun with a skid steer of course..
Never knew that but makes sense. Thanks Daniel. So, mine doesn't really have a platform to place the jackstand or a way to attach it to the yoke...

That's a good idead Tom. What I'd like to do is weld an electric winch similar to the stock winches that come with the chippers...for pulling logs and brush in. Anyone successfully do that yet?

I also added an electric winch to my chipper.

Be warned they're not the workhorses that hydraulic units are. Look at the load rating and duty cycle of the winch motor. I burned out a motor because it got too hot. After replacing the motor I was more careful about overheating.

OK gotcha. So the winches that come installed on chippers run off the hydraulics. Crazy I know, but I've never used one. Has anybody added one on post purchase? Or is that too many mods?
