Who's Going to Hawaii?

Re: Who\'s Going to Hawaii?

FUN CLIMB

OK, here's the deal. Monday afternoon at 3:30 pm we will be meeting in front of the Sheraton to hop into our luxurious transportation (two empty chip trucks) taking us for a lovely fun climb at Lyon Arboretum. This is a first come, first served event, bring your own gear. Hopefully the weather will be good and we will have a great time climbing some beautiful trees in a beautiful place. We will come back when everyone is done climbing.

And yes Jon you can climb the blue marble tree!

Re: Who\'s Going to Hawaii?

Leon,

Thank you VERY much for setting up this spectacular climb. One of the most beatiful places i've ever been and to have the pleasure to climb some magnificant trees was completely out of this world. Thank you!

If anyone has pics from yesterdays climb please share, i made the mistake and left my camera at the hotel...

If anyone has pictures please post them!

Re: Who\'s Going to Hawaii?

C'mon somebody has to have pictures from the fun climb! There were probably forty or so people there and a bunch of them were TreeBuzzers...

I have some of the trees and some of the comp. I will have to resize them B/4 postin. (hopefully tomorrow)

Leon, thank you for an awesome site and ALL YOU did. My hat is off to YOU my friend!

Re: Who\'s Going to Hawaii?

What's the matter Leon? You look so clean cut. That picture is really ruining my hippie image of you.

CHEERS TO LEON !!!!!!!!!

Thanks a ton for all of the hard work and incredible hospitality that you provided for ITCC and fun climb activites!!!!!!! If any of you have not had the chance to meet Leon, just picture a beard, a smile, and a never ending amount of energy to assure you of an incredible time. It is needless to say that none of us would have had near as much fun on this trip without Leon's ability to organize, transport, and generally put up with a ton of wide eyed mainland arborists. I can't thank you enough for helping to make this trip one of the best experiences that I will ever have. Thanks again Leon, I hope to pay you back for this someday!!!!!!!!

Re: CHEERS TO LEON !!!!!!!!!

C'mon guys you're making me blush already. It wasn't nothing but proper hospitality, and I enjoyed almost every minute of it. Even when Mahk made me jump out of an airplane...

Really I owe all the folks that came to visit as big a thanks. I met a whole lot of good people, learned a whole lot, and even got some free goodies (thanks Mark!).

Darin, I'm as appalled by that photo as you are. I'm growing my hair as fast as I can right now.

Re: CHEERS TO LEON !!!!!!!!!

Yep, thanks Leon for the hard work and especially for arranging the fun climb at the arboretum, I absolutely love the blue marble tree!

Uh hum, I would also like to add some other names to the "cheers to Leon" thread, including local arborists Dudley Hulbert, Mark Leon Carol Kwan, and Greg Severino (and many more local guys, too many to list here) who volunteered a LOT of time to get the conference up and going this year in Hawaii (including time spent trimming and deadwooding the trees for the ITCC). Also, since I didn't also hear it mentioned any time during the conference, I would like to thank the University of Hawaii for offering a great venue for the ITCC, and allowing everyone to use the wonderful trees on campus for the competition.

Re: CHEERS TO LEON !!!!!!!!!

So Leon you got em up a banyan, great! Like Electra and Codit did when they came out to clear that red jade vine. Any problems with the cockatoos going for their ropes?

Re: CHEERS TO LEON !!!!!!!!!

not after our ropes but certainly let us know we were in there house. All the squakking became slighty irritating at one point but final subsided. Even though the noise was irritating it was toooooooo cool hanging out in a tree with cockatoos.. :) ...Just don't get to see that in the oaks and cottonwoods around these parts.
