where can I take a course Aerial Rescue Training?

North American Training Solutions (NATS) offers basic and advanced rescue courses. Check the Wesspur website for dates and locations.

What is the status of your First Aid certs?

Have you taken the equivalent of Advanced First Aid or First Responder?

I know I'm a wet blanket...but...the rigging and lowering stuff should be pretty second nature to any arbo. Victim care and packaging for transport aren't. Arbo-related FA training seem to be sorely lacking in teaching victim care.

^ knowing first aid will tell you when to lower, when to stabilize, which massive bleeds can be stopped, which can’t, how to maintain an open airway, etc etc.

Aerial rescue for the most part teaches you how to get him down. Get some advanced first aid under your belt first. Things can go horribly wrong, horribly quickly in tree care,

I need to correct my earlier post. The folks at Wesspur who teach aerial rescue are Ascension Group Northwest, not NATS.

I’ve done the aerial rescue training several times through different places. I’m in Ohio so prolly not much help. I will say that advanced first aid should be taken. The general first aid class is common sense stuff and basically tells you to get an expert in there. Hopefully taking a refresher advanced class soon. Much more in depth than “you call 911,and you get an AED, and I’ll put a bandaid here
till EMS arrives”
