Euro tracked chippers.

.

The one thing I wish it had was a lunette ring and pintle setup. Every time I pull up to a job the hitch looks like this on the ball. Apparently it’s normal.
Is there a pivot in the tongue?

Cannot see the whole thing from those pics...is it something that cannot be changed to a pintle (or better ball)?

Honestly the salesman was selling it as a “homeowner” model. But I think I knew more about the machine than he did. He wanted to get me on a 12” Morbark gasser. No friggin way. This unit has no actual Morbark components.

Curious about your statement regarding the 12" Morbark gasser... Care to explain a little more?

There is a pivot in the tongue as well as the brake system (spring loaded).

One solution I have thought of is to make a drop on the tongue, or a rise however you want to think of it. But basically making the weight on the tongue below the actual hitch and ball mount. That way it can stay centered and still swing and pivot as needed.

Sure… this is all just my point of view and uninformed formally. But I don’t care for the design of the in feed mainly. In my limited experience with an older model (2013) there is an unnecessary gap/dead space between infeed and drum where lots of small chunks can get lodged in there. The new model doesn’t appear to have changed that aspect.

The simplicity of the machine itself is pretty amazing. A toggle switch from turtle to rabbit. No clutch to engage. Emergency stop button and electric forward and reverse paddles. A total of 5 grease fittings all right next to one another.

Overall I’ve been very impressed with its capability. 8” spruce tops/ logs no problem. Poplar 8” limbs, no problem. Honey locust 8” is not recommended haha
No lift/crush cylinder so take that as it comes. diagonal cut to feed larger logs in as needed. I’ll try and get a few video of some chipping.. it makes really nice chips

I'm not selling it, dummy. I saw it and decided it was a relative and perhaps helpful contribution to this thread. Unlike most of your posts...
Alec, your contribution is great. If you watch the video...Mick is not wrong about the presentation of the chipper from Baur (sp).

I think anyone selling equipment for our profession should either go out and put in more time with it (I've seen Baur throw a few sticks through used chippers he was selling in the past) or take multiple hard core users of said equipment "out to lunch" and thoroughly pick their brain.

By the way, after Mick and a few others posting here with personal experience with Euro chippers I would go to that Euro based Arb forum and search exhaustively what people experience with them there. (Also great for any Euro based equipment insights long before released here in the states. They had info on usage of the Husky Battery saws for the best part of a year before we had them in hand here.)

Mick what is that site?
