Re: what\'s the length of your work positioning lanyard

I keep a 20 foot or 6 meter lanyard. I have been working srt though for well over a year now and I havent ever used the entire lenght as redirects in srt are so quick and with no added friction. I need to shorten mine instead.

HA. i dont climb str......i have a 5 meter but if i need longer i just pull up the other end of my rope....but that takes a long time!

8' just hangs off the ground from the saddle position while on the ground. I also have a long one I take up on occasion to reposition in a tree which is going be uncooperative to get around in. But really have learned it is easier to just get around using the tail end of the rope in these occasions.

Re: what\'s the length of your work positioning lan

Hmmm i think ill move up to a 6 meter and keep using the tail end now and then.

thanks. matt

This is how i have my lanyard setup. I don't know how long it is but i think it is around 20 feet. I have a small prusik on accessory cordage to hold some of the slack and create another loop

Re: what\'s the length of your work positioning lanyard

I have a 15 footer and I'm thinking about making a 30 footer soonish. We'll see. Having a real long one can be a pain, but not having one available can be even worse.

Re: what\'s the length of your work positioning lanyard

I just daisy chain the tail and keep it pinned up with a mini biner. Only takes a few seconds to unclip it and pull a few loops out and put it back when needed.

Have a 15 foot now, but want to go longer to start using as a redirect/second tie in.

Re: what\'s the length of your work positioning lan

Yes i too daisy chain my one but from the tail end witch has a snap on it and goes to one of the gear loops on my BFII.....

Theres always a trade off with these things..to short when you NEED it! and to long and gets in the way! dam! haha

I think ill just go a bit longer and stow it the same way.

Just nice to find out what others are using too.

P.S im NOT into the ditty bag thing! ha

Re: what\'s the length of your work positioning lan

I have a 20 footer, but I'm going to cut it down to 15.

I recently picked up a Weaver ditty bag from Treestuff.com and it works AWESOME for keeping the excess rope in on the back of my saddle. You don't really know it's there and the elastic top keeps it in well, even after feeding out rope.

Re: what\'s the length of your work positioning lan

I used to use a ditty bag to store my excess lanyard. I've found that I never put the rope back in it after I get done using the full length and decided there are a lot better things I can store in that sucker than my rope.

Re: what\'s the length of your work positioning lan

10'

Been trying out a new design using 8mm Kevlar cord (poly jacket) with a Tech Cord adjuster. So far I like it.

If I need something longer I use a short 2nd lifeline.

Re: what\'s the length of your work positioning lan

I use an 18' NeoPro (7/16") with a Distel hitch. The tail is attached to a loop on my harness.

Initially the tail twisted up so badly that the useful length was even less than the 12' I had been using.

The twist problem was solved (100%) by attaching a Petzl swivel to the tail end. A little $$$ ........... but problem solved.

Re: what\'s the length of your work positioning lan

20'...can be a wee bit of a pain sometimes, but worth its weight in gold when you need it.

Re: what\'s the length of your work positioning lan

25' velocity, hrc vt, CMI pulley, with it daisy chained to store it. I tried the ditty bag idea but it keeps pulling out even if you tie a knot to keep it locked in.

Can be annoying but its really nice when you need it.
