Whats the best climbing line you\'ve foot locked on

I just want to hear about your favorite line to footlock on! I am looking into buying a couple line's and looking for opinions !

To be completely honest, the best footlocking rope I have used to date is velocity. Tachyon works nice also but it's bouncy. I am no speed footlocker but I can hold my own....

I was just looking at that line . Looks good for gripping but how heavy is it ? Its been awhile since I climbed on 1/2inch

Velocity is what I am climbing on now . I find Both to have alittle to much stretch for my liking . Lookin to shed 2-3 sec off my lock . looking for a stiffer line! thanks for your info!

i footlocked on some stuff at the last wwtcc a couple of years ago and it was like climbing flexible steel cable. i wish i knew what it was.

Escalator or 7/16" KMIII. You can set it up as an access and leave it in place for a rescue while climbing off another line.

Escalator is very static, and you will feel like you gain a foot for every inch you ascend, but it's also the most difficult to grip when there's any moisture on it.

KMIII doesn't get cable-like when loaded like Escalator does. It stays quite supple and knots very well. Dig it!

Vortex is too heavy to really fly on.

Rocket line is nice.

Web search for the Dexter Elm tree in Malden Mass. That photo was taken c. 1900 and the workers were unsuccessfully trying to manage a Gypsy Moth infestation.

I climb on sterling HTP, seems to not get as iced up in the winter as other lines, and I always go up on that, leave in the tree for the prune until the end. Saves so much energy, especially if you have to go up any more than 3-4 60ft tie ins daily.

I really like escalator, static and very rigid also holds a secret weapon setup very nicely.

Hey Victor,

My two favorites for footlocking are Teufelberger's Globe 5000 or Platinum. Globe is super light with no discernible stretch. Platinum has a wee bit of stretch and a larger diameter; quite light as well.

All right I got some cougar blue, which is semi static but you can climb off it which is even more functional and it footlocks great, very little stetch. Damn good rope for wrenching...I am not a comp climber so I don't care about seconds, I prefer a little stretch to be honest and I still climb majority of trees DdRT.

I agree swing, no comp for me either, and I climb mostly on DRT as well.

escalator,vortex, volicty, an arbormaster ive found works really well an im pretty good footlocker but poisonivy not soo well found it too slipery
