What kinds of handy mods have you done to use non-climbing stuff while climbing?

Today, after reading about someone dropping their phone , i came up with an Otterbox Defender mod that should save my phone from any accidental drops while in a tree. Just clip to a free loop, or keep it tethered. I usually keep it in a bag on my saddle, but with it clipped and tethered, if i ever accidentally pull it out of the bag i won't lose it.

What else have you guys come up with to keep your non-climbing stuff safe in the trees?

I keep my smokes safe by sticking them in the hood of my sweatshirt. An ol timer taught me that trick lol

I sanded the back of the hard case and epoxied a nice piece of shoe lace to it with a short loop. Then i used a leather punch to punch a hole in the soft case. Threaded the lace through and put the mini 'biner on it. I can clip it to anything, or a tether just in case.

The epoxy seems to be doing pretty well and the case itself doesn't seem to show any excess wear so far. DO NOT SLICE THE SOFT CASE. PUNCH A LEGITIMATE HOLE WITH THE PROPER TOOL OR YOU WILL RUIN THE SOFT CASE!

I'm mostly a rec climber with kids, so it makes sense for me. Way easier than lugging a dslr and lenses up with me, though it WILL happen eventually...

Thanks. I have several friends that have dropped their phones so many times they're almost proud of it. I can't afford a phone every time something breaks, so... something to be said for precautions, right?

It all ways comes in handy to send pics for all second opinion. It also helps in documenting damage when cleaning up storm damage

I got the easy rigger saddle bag from new tribe. I throw it on saddle for certain climbs it holds more than enough shit I'll ever need..
