Hey,

What do you guys think make for good website pictures? I find it really hard to take pictures of jobs and not have them all look the same.

As well what do you do for editing your pictures? Straight from camera to site or do you use a certain program.

When I look to add pictures at some point next summer I am going to look into hiring a photographer. In my case I have a lot of family members and friends that are in this career. People that just don't shoot you climbing a tree but also gather the true beauty trees provide to have a truly artistic photo.

Clients could care less about gear, trucks, or how we'll you climb. They wanna see pretty trees and clean yards.

Every pic on my website was edited in some way.

Why'd you go out of your way to get a cab over with a chevy emblem on front?

Thank you. It still needs a lot of work and I don't spend enough time on it. Regardless, I know we get a lot of work from it!

Leafguy- Pic's are great but video is best. I've found that they do much more for your SEO. Especially when Google is used. Because they own YouTube your site gets placed higher when someone is looking. Don’t worry too much on video edits, take out the slow stuff and any bad language. Statistics show most people watch for under 30 seconds. When you add to your site, pic or video, use good keywords matched to them. But don't use Arborist terms. My mistake was using too many terms that I understood. Then my buddy reminded me that Arborists do their own tree work!

Nick- I disagree about gear, trucks, & climbing. Customers look at image. They can see that if your stuff is clean your work will be too.

Reed, I agree 100% with you on that. So they don't care if you prefer stihl or husqy, but yes- they do want to see NICE looking stuff.

I was saying more like I think they'd rather see a big pretty tree in a nicely cleaned yard rather than a close up of you up in a tree with a chainsaw and a bunch of gear on your harness.

Agreed. I am doing some before and after stuff now. It is a real tough thing to get good at. Difficult to maintain the same perspective after the job is done. I've had some luck with GPS.
We started doing uniforms for the same reason (image). Clean to me says pro.

images should highlight the benefits that your services provide.
safe trees, beautiful trees & landscapes, peace of mind, happy people enjoying themselves and wild life frolicking and anything else you can think of that shows why you do what you do not how you do it. Those images can go in the gallery section of the site.
