Wayyyy cool splitting ax/maul!

Watch the wrist as the maul makes contact.
Too much forced twisting of the wrist and elbow.
I was shown this technique by a french men splitting hard woods. To give it a twist as it strikes. Worked well.
Never found it comfortable.
I prefer to keep it all aligned.

Forget the maul, i like the idea of putting the piece of wood in a tire, that way you don't have to stand up every piece after you split it.

my grandfather once taught me years ago that if you hold a splitting axe at a slight angle, when it strikes the wood it forces the wood appart. And it doesnt get stuck (if the piece does not split first strike). This maul seems to be doing the same thing mechanically by making it heavyer on one side. It also doesnt skip off due to the side blade which seems to catch the top of the wood. I too like the tire idea more than the maul :-) Thanks for the video Tom

I wonder how it works with knotty wood?

I've taken a few wacks with the leveraxe. It went around on AS. Tom, you didn't see that thread? It's a real nice tool. But real pricey. And ya, not too good on anything with anything even like a knot.
