Does anyone know if I can change my husqvarna t540i cutting system from the factory .325 pitch 43 gauge drive sprocket, bar, and chain to a 3/8 lp 50 gauge.

That is a larger chain, fewer cutters since the links are longer, but the cutters would be wider. What are you trying to achieve?
Is that a larger chain? Seems like it.
Lots of people are going smaller to cut less wood with the same engine power.
I did on my 170 but that saw has much more power, I wouldn't change my 540ixp set up I could see going smaller for pruning but that's about it. I recently got the oregon chains for it, normally I'm not a big fan of oregon chains but these are better than the husqvarna imo, these specific ones they used o1 steel for the teeth and it's staying sharp for a long time. That is a larger chain, fewer cutters since the links are longer, but the cutters would be wider.
I would think it best not to make the switch, as I doubt the motor in that saw will like pulling a wider chain. I’ve never heard of someone intentionally running a wider profile chain than factory on purpose.
I thought that Oregon made the chains for Husqvarna? They did long ago, at least, and made the Husqvarna branded bars as well back then.I did on my 170 but that saw has much more power, I wouldn't change my 540ixp set up I could see going smaller for pruning but that's about it. Husqvarna makes their own now, but you’re right, Oregon made them at one time.I thought that Oregon made the chains for Husqvarna? They did long ago, at least, and made the Husqvarna branded bars as well back then.
Yes there is the panther 1/4 pitch set up from August here in the states. No doubled rakers and longer cut time. Will that chain slap directly onto my husky bar and sprocket and it appears to have doubled rakers does anyone make a pro chain for this saw
Yes the speedcut nano goes directly on the bar and sprocket that comes with the 540ixpWill that chain slap directly onto my husky bar and sprocket and it appears to have doubled rakers does anyone make a pro chain for this saw
True, but the bars are flimsy and no longer in stock.Yes there is the panther 1/4 pitch set up from August here in the states. No doubled rakers and longer cut time.
Weird I’ve got 3 panther bars with lots of hours on them and no issues. Sounds like August may have something new coming soon.True, but the bars are flimsy and no longer in stock.
I swapped mine over and it was great for a while until the rails separated at the sprocket on the nose. The rivet opened up. Hasn’t cut right since, and the bars are no longer available. If I can just find where I put the stock sprocket and bar….
I've got a spare lightly used 12" bar and chain if you need itTrue, but the bars are flimsy and no longer in stock.

I swear I did too! It's really against my style to throw anything out, I have a stack of worn out bars!I'm running the Panther bar on my 540i and luckily haven't had any troubles with it, but I certainly did keep the stock bar and chains as a backup, should I need it.
