want a chipper truck

would like to buy a chipper truck were I can drive my mini skid sk650 in the middle and have a chipper box on the back pulling my vermeer 1800. any advice on trying to find one please let me know

I keep my mini in the back of my F350, load it with ramps, and tow a chipper behind it. No separation of chips/mini at the end of the day. Positive aspect is having more dump/junk space in the back - negative is dusty mini.

Anyway, I'll be selling mine in two months, if you're interested in a 2006 5.4L gas F350 2wd with less than 40k miles. No price set yet, just letting you know.

Ramps not included.

I bought a NQR Isuzu and had a platform made up for it (the dump was from my old truck).

It has worked well for me so far. Only thing I miss is the 4x4. With side loading my Vermeer mini, it really make the truck tilt while putting it on.

I have pics of it in the "Pics of your chip truck" last page.

Climbhightree, I like your setup, always have wanted something like that, but it limits the chip space too much. There are so many jobs that don't require a mini, too, so the space goes wasted, along with the fuel to drag the thing around needlessly.

Then again, everyone has their own cup of tea.

By the way, I'm originally from Myerstown, PA! I'll try to look for you when I'm back home some time - good to see reputable companies popping up in the old home "town."

Winch, not sure what you mean with your first post. Are you chipping into the truck with the mini in back? I've fit mine back there numerous times with a partial load, and that means a dusty mini. Maybe thats what you meant. Most times I'll run back and get the mini after dumping, the time the mini saves allows me to leisurely drive back and pick it up end of day.

Thought so! I always though it'd be cool on those small job to put some sort of divider down the middle, but I don't like to reinvent the wheel.

this would be grea!t except !!! bought an old asplundh truck like you are describing and felt like it didn't have the power that i needed to pull an 1800 and a mini! IF you Know of a newer international, Freightliner or even a newer gmc like this with a diesel for sale I would probably jump on it!! let me Know if asplundh is selling their newer trucks from 03 & up I would definetly jump on it!!!

I run a second truck (F350) and a dump trailer. We either put the mini in the bed of the F350 or haul it in the dump trailer. Only downside is you have to bring two setups with you to removal jobs (truck/chipper & trailer/mini). But I've found it very efficient when we're dealing with wood. Chip the brush send the truck and chipper home and then pickup the wood with the F350.
