Views of the world...you GOTTA see these!

These are NOT photographs. These are computer renderings based upon topographic maps and other climactic input.

One of my hobbies is to use POVRay and other tools to do designs, creating a lot of computer sawdust before even getting out into the shop.

Check out http://irtc.org , too. There's one favorite called something like 'Dark Side of the Trees'.

And to think I had finally reconciled myself to the fact that although I love rock climbing and hiking in deserts I live in Ohio, where we have neither mountains nor deserts. Good thing I didn't move here from Utah where almost a quarter of those shots were taken from.....oh wait I did.....shmeeeeesh. Well atleast the trees are much nicer to climb in Ohio. Excellent site Tom and Jim, thanks.

A year ago December I spent 11 days touring Zion, Bryce and both rims of the Grand Canyon. It was SOOOO cool to look at the pictures and remember the great trip. As close to an eagle's eye view as I can ever imagine.

There are a few trees to climb there...but not as spectacular as the eastern hardwood forests :)

These pics are verrryyy cooool but I have to agree there are no pics BETTER than the real ones !!!!!

I think MR. TOM can relate!

I miss our late night conversations .....
