Video Spurclimber pruning w/o hardhat or glasses

Can we get a moderator to delete this thread once and for all? It has outlived it's usefulness as a bad example. Lots of wasted breath here!

As twisted as this thread has become, the essence is still useful for discussion.

Oxman called out a local competitor on the internet. Even though the "violations" should be pointed out, he went about it in the wrong way.

I'm wondering what he has to say about this whole outing now?

If you are God's gift to tree work than why are you sitting around video taping people working and not off doing estimates or working yourself.

If he is like me, he's so fast he was done for the day. Nothing more funny than to watch a hack fight his way through the rest of his day. While sitting back and sipping a coffee and smoke.

Oxman wrote "Interesting how criticism comes from not saying something."

In your case, much seems to come from what your video trail. Not just this one. The opening post has your words and your choice of video. So you ensured yourself at least that quota. Anyone else on a forum gets a quota too. Your critical real estate may be shrinking.

Re: Video Spurclimber pruning w/o hardhat or glass

I don't mind sightin' in on someone who refuses to repent and letting a few clips go. I don't have much patience for those who are only regretful because they got caught and refuse to change their ways.

However, when someone is at least making the attempt at correcting a bad situation, is not appologetic for his guys messing up, and is wanting to use the situation to advance the safety in the industry as a whole, I say let them alone and see if they follow up. If they are being dishonest, produce another vid to prove they haven't changed.

If they have changed then we ought to forgive. This situation should be used for the advancement of safe tree care, not for taking shots at someone who is in the mean time seeming to try and correct the situation. The original vid looses all it's moral standing if it is only to be be cruel and vicious. And the cruelty increases if it's to beat someone wanting forgiveness and understanding.

I don't know any of the parties involved, so I only see what's been posted. If there is honesty in what Ryan is saying, then one reveals the blackness of their heart by continuing to bash him.

I hope Ox responds. I don't know if there is a time limit, he may be busy, but I would like to see his response as well.

I'm wondering if Ox took this opportunity to present the tree company employees he filmed an ISA handout (or similar handout) on proper pruning guidelines?

Re: Video Spurclimber pruning w/o hardhat or glass

I heard "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all". Looks like the lesson didn't take. Hypocrisy is a human defect that has surfaced in my character, for you all to see.

The Cherry tree was pruned rather nicely, without any improper cuts that I could see.

Sony's new G3 camera has Wifi and a web browser, making it easier to upload to the internet. More of this type of video will make its way onto the internet. How will we handle it?

We will take the videos down when it looks like we may have made a mistake, and maybe learn from the mistake? Maybe lawyers will remind us, and maybe we'll make some friends in the end. You must have paid someone somewhere to have the balls to keep that video on the internet. Or maybe you've got a lawyer in the family and can afford to sling sh#t at people?

So far I'd say this media event of yours has not been good for the industry, if that was your intent.

That is one of the better points among the replies.

1. Oxman's advertisement at best leaves one more bad taste in the public's mind about tree care providers.

2. The Youtube video gives the impression that tree industry people are willing to stab one another in the back.

3. Arborist forums are questionable for that kind of presentation, but Youtube is a bad forum for that type of material.

Relax tomthetreewoman I'm entitled to my opinion. I was just kidding about the colonoscpoy but maybe you want to get in with all that.

Pete, I wasn't writing that in direct response to your post, I just think the whole thing had gone far enough in general. Sorry if you took it personally. The 'treewoman' comment was pretty funny though.

How much do you think that arbor barber made from pruning that cherry tree? How much did that lumber company make from killing that grove of trees that you removed the tree sitters from? Which was the bigger crime? And how much did you make from removing those tree sitters?
