Video of More Butchered Trees

Sorry Macro, I couldn't watch it all!

What a sight. That is just nasty. That neighbourhood needs some educating. I guess I take for granted how bad the topping can get in other locales. I see it a bit around here but nothing like that!
Time to get some pamphlets (sp?) and start shoving them in mailboxes!

When we 1st moved in to this neighborhood I went to every door and handed out info fliers and talked about topping vs pruning. I didn't have a clue what opposition I would meet at that time (6 years ago). I truely thought I would be the tree savior, but out of the entire neighborhood only one resident has used my services in the last 6 years (the one in the vid where I mention crown restoration).

There are a couple guys with pick up trucks, chainsaws and climbing spikes that go door to door in this particular neighborhood once a year, and needless to say they get a lot of business. (no sign on the truck, not a real company stating the obvious)

I could show you guys dozens of neighborhoods (almost all neighborhoods here) just like this, but you get the point.

Macro-c,

What you need to do is get a friend, preferrably female, to dress up like a greenpeace type person and find one of these companies in the act. Preferrable with the homeowner present. Have them start wailing and calling them what they are, tree butchers. Just make sure they stay on the street, and you might have to bail them out of jail, but it may make the point

Gaffs too... should have guessed. That is heartbreaking.

man you guys need to see hawaii. there is barley any tree's left that have not been topped and lion tailed. the jungle is the only places with untouched trees. most of all the urban area trees have been topped by tree crews that are so called ISA certified even though they offer topping as a service. i scratch my head on that one.

Burnsville isn't too far from me, between johnson city (where I am) and asheville.

I just did crown restoration (from topping) today on silver map and my tie in was way low due to so much decay, scary. I told the people I'd rather cut the tree down and replant, some are just too far decayed.

I thought that maybe Asheville would be a safe haven from the surrounding butchery, but from others posts, maybe not?

The neighbor of the property I was working at today got his lawn chair out and watched me prune. Every tree on his property was topped (dogwoods, pin oak, maples). I bet he was thinking "he didn't even take any of the top". I waived and said hi but he wouldn't reply. jackass

Yeah I see alot of that same sh*t here. I agree with what that site says-grandaddy topped his trees....... That is pretty much the same thing I encounter. Our city hired a new arborist(actually have 2 now) and he is trying to do a good job. He tries to crack down on bad practices when he can. He recently wrote an article for the newspaper on topping, and I heard one guy say(who is a high priced hacker) "I've been in business for 40 years and have never heard of such sh*t." I thougt to myself how can someone do something for so long and not have studied their trade for more education to make themselves better.
