variation on m-rig

hey guys, first post here. better make it a good one eh?

was sitting in the truck today daydreaming on the way back to the yard and thought of this. just curious to see what people have to say about it.

i have not climbed on this system yet just throwing some ideas around.

I'd have to look at it a little more but it kinda looks like you have a variation of the 'triangle of death', i.e. essentially a loop around two anchor points with the load being applied to only one side of the loop.

Hmmm, maybe not; not sure where the load attaches.

imm not familiar with the 'triangle of death' maybe you could post a pic ron?

ok so maybe i should of explained it. haha. alright, on the right of the hitchclimber prussick setup is where your 'primary TIP' would be with your RG or whatever, and on your left i've used the terminal end of my rope with a running bowline tied off to a 'secondary TIP'. the orange gated william underneith with the loop of rope is for retrieving this setup. the loop would obviously be a lot longer whilst working so it wouldnt get in the way.

on the hitchclimber the OK that is through the rope would be replaced by a pulley and the leftover EYE on the hitchclimber would be given another biner with an ascender like a kong duck or ropeman, for capturing progress on the way back to primary tip.

the reason why i came up with this is i was trying to think of a way of 'm-rigging' back across to my 'primary TIP' without installing another friction saver and without damaging my rope and tree from friction.

i also had contemplated and bit of an endlessloop system with my polebelt off this configuration as a redirect too but i think thats another post.

cheers guys i hope that helps.

You're really just SRT climbing here aren't you? You've tied off one end and advance the prussic while the other biner slides you along the traverse line.

Interesting...

A Pantin would be the ticket.

Verrrry interesting. How about put a hitch and pulley tender on the "keeper" biner so you can independently capture progress if you're moving towards the left side of the rig. It would technically be a hitch on SRT but since the right side is supporting some of the load maybe it would work well enough.

moss-

i think the hitch and pulley would work well if set up remotely as in your video you posted recently with the yellow grapple. i have been mucking around with a coat hanger and a throwball on the end of my splice for short traverses. seeing as the traverse hook is no where to be found.

Jeff-

thats a pretty decent retrievable redirect invented as far as im aware by a guy in nz. drew bristow. its another take on beddes highwaymans hitch. it would work configured in an mrig but you would shortly run out of rope if you were doing any decent traverses plus it takes much longer to set up. the reason why i like this set up is it takes literally moments to set up. i would say the redirect option would be nicer to work off as it is a Ddrt setup and you wouldnt get any dramas with your hitch, but im only proposing using my system to return to your original TIP or do minimal work out.
