v.t. cordage

Hoping to get some input on what type of cordage you use for you're v.t.

I've been climbing on a 10 mm beeline split tail with a blakes for the past few months and am interested in trying a friction hitch that won't bind up as much, especially brought to light after some rainy days we've had the past week.

I've got a section of HRC I'm thinking about using, and I'm climbing on blue streak.

Any thoughts, or just what are you climbing with?

i have been climbing on poison ivy with HRC chord...I like it a lot...I also have tried some ocean p...and it works ok but I really havent used it all that much

Ditto on the PI and HRC.

Took a few climbs for the HRC to break in and grip well but once it broke in it worked great!

I was wondering about that, I've never climbed with HRC and it seems a little "slick" before any use. with a melting point of 1000 deg it seems like it would last a long time.

I was also tweaking my knot and playing with different lengths so that might have had something to do with it slipping a little. All in all, it works great for me now. It's works almost as well as a mechanical device once you tweak your knot and get it broke in.

HRC with PI. I've been using the same cord for over 4 months and i'm just now debating on making a new one. It's great stuff. Bermie- I was fortunate to get a few weeks of hurricane clean up in Bermuda working for Kevin H. several years ago. Love to get down there again but having a family and all that goes with it, i'm staying close to home these days.

Icetail or HRC on PI... Icetail when the rope's covered with pitch. HRC doesn't like my rope when it's coated with sap.

HRC on Velocity... which is now my favorite combo.

I splice HRC to be single thickness rather than double with crossed tapers... it ain't up to ANSI strength that way because the buries are short for class II cord, so be advised.

All hitchcords will work better with a better climbing line, like P.I., or my favorite, Tachyon.

I like HRC due to it's longevity.

How deep are you burying? NER states 6" is adequate.

I'm close to that, more than 4" but less than 6", I don't remember exactly. The one I'm on now is almost a year old... HRC is durable stuff.

One more thing about HRC, it makes a difference which direction and how much you twist the eye when you hook it to the biner. Twist it one way and it won't set reliably, twist it the other and it's perfect.

Just to put it out there, ive heard of people lightly sanding HRC to get it a little fuzzy when new. any one here try this?

I am climbing on arborplex. do you still reccomend hrc?

I found HRC to be too small on 1/2 line. Icetail seemed to work a little better when I was using 1/2 Hi-Vee.
