Using the Rocker instead of a Croll

Heres an idea Ive been playing with.
A brief description,

Petzl handled ascender above,
strop, is doubled hitch cord with fishermans bends on each leg, terminated at biner on each side of the rocker (to help stabilize, and fair lead the rocker),
clip lower biner with strop legs and rocker to bridge ring on saddle,
add a foot loop runner to upper ascender and a pantin on other foot and frog walkin you go.

Thoughts please.

So is the dog leash snap on the strop used to hold the rocker assembly in an upright position? Similar to a shock cord strop (like I use) or chest harness (Torse, Secur)?

No, I just used that to hold the bight of rope so I could get the whole set up in the picture. Pretend you dont see that.

I like it. I would still install a prusik above the handled ascender, just in case. None of the hardware in use meets ANSI Z criteria.

looks good, sucks that Bartlett won't let you use anything that isn't ANZI. Got to love the liability issues.

The petzl ascender doesnt meet Z criteria?

The rocker has an ANSI stamp on it?

The biners are triacts rated at 24 kn, in the real world Id use some beeline in place of the sta-set.
So far this hasnt left the drawing table.

Mahk Adams pointed out the limitation of using the Rocker in this configuration to me a few years ago.

If the down rope is tensioned like it would be during a footlock AND the upper ascender fails the Rocker will slip down the tensioned rope until the rope goes limp. In that time the climber could fall too far. More than likely the Rocker would grab but there is a likely drop.

In one of my early SRT rigs I used the Rocker low and a Microcender high. After Mahk's observation I took substituted a second MC for the Rocker.

Well John, you're going to need some way to fair the rocker to the ascent line, and keep it out of your lap. Cool idea, but just purchase a Croll will ya?

My bad, I didn't know the Rocker had an ANSI stamp on it. The 1 I have doesn't. The Petzl handled ascender does not. Like I said, I like it.
