Using a 7/32" (5.5 mm) round file for 13/64" (5.16 mm) chain?

I know you were making a funny but it made me think of a primary I work for who switched to those chains Treeco posted and he loves them. He is the kind of guy who puts love into sharpening. Bit of a master at it. I was never that guy. I just wanted them to cut. Perhaps its therapeutic and I should start over and look at it differently.

It really is therapeutic Steve. Anybody can grab a file and go scratch, scratch with it and come away with something marginally sharper. But to take a chain all the way through it's life cycle from brand new to nothing left, keeping it sharp and balanced the whole way, by hand, is real craftsmanship. An art form. I enjoy hand filing, as long as it's not rushed.

This video shows the physics of reducing file size as a chain saw tooth reaches 50% and beyond of being used up.

I've got some Stihl literature around here somewhere that explains this with Stihl chain and I'll post it up if I find it.
If you want to keep track of your starting point on sharpening a little easier Magic Marker makes a model of pen that is click to use, click to close. One left cutter marked, one right - easy to see stop point. Blue shows up real well for me.

I find an orange marker stands out amongst the lighting, reflection angles and dirtiness of the teeth.
